We used to frequent the Villa in it's prime! We had not been to Petoskey in quite awhile. But decided to take the family up north last fall for colors. Looking for a nice fine dining establishment we decided to stop in at our old stomping grounds. Wow..this place never used to take reservations and no one ever minded waiting for even an hour or more for the fantastic experience. Well needless to say things have changed....no one was in the parking lot and we debated amongst ourselves wether they were open or even still in business, but we tried the door and yes they were open. We were greeted by the snobbiest little hostess (my husband said her name was Tracy) you would ever dream of meeting (we regret not leaving then). She sort of pointed us in the direction or our table without any pleasantries and was off, in her rush she must have forgotten to tell our waitress she had a table....because it was a looonnnng time before she showed up to our table to take our wine order. She must have been "taking a break" because she smelled awful of smoke!!!! While we sat and enjoyed our wine (which was very delicious and fairly priced...best part of the evening) more employees arrived and interrupted our meal by loudly talking with each other on the other side of the wall. They showed no regard to the fact there was a table of paying customers seated attempting to enjoy their drinks. This continued throughout the meal in this manner. Our server seemed quite knowledgeable of the menu (which was over priced) but still tasty. And did actually provide us with decent service. But the obnoxious behavior or the hostess and other servers continued through our entire meal. It is so sad and not a wonder that a restaurant that was once a flourish of customers and deliciousness with fantastic service has declined to such a impoverished level! I regretfully will not be back nor will I recommend it.
