I am a very fussy when it comes to Chinese food, and I my number one choice for over 20 years has been Craig Henry Chinese food. Why, Quality and Price = value. I see some reviews which rate it only one star. That is what prompted me to write this review, because someone from the Golden Palace must have written it. The Golden palace is a compete rip off when you consider they charge almost twice as much more for an egg role, than Craig Henry, and they are every bit as good. Also, run your fingers along the top of the shelf at Golden Palace, and you will see that the place is filthy. The items in the front cash counter have not been replaced since the place opened, and the staff are completely arrogant, like they feel entitled to ripping you off. They are rude and ignorant. If you dont like something, they dont care. The service at the Craig Henry Family Chinese food business is friendly, respectful and courteous. Sure its a takeout place as opposed to a sit down restaurant, but the food in my opinion is the best in Ottawa by far. Dont believe me. Then pick up food from the Golden Palace one week and try it. IMPORTANT - make sure you keep your bill. The next week pick up the same menu at Craig Henry Chinese food, take it home and enjoy in front of the TV knowing that when you finish your meal, that you will have likely paid on average 40% less at Craig Henry than you did at the Golden Palace For sure, you need to compare your bills. Example: Sliced BBQ Pork, $9.95 CH, $13.50 GP, Egg roll. $1.20 GP, $2.00 GP and dont let anyone tell me they are better. P.S Dont forget to ask for the hot mustard for your egg rolls.
