I read the glowing reviews of this restaurant ('best restaurant in Kankakee', 'on par with Chicago area French restaurants', etc.) and came with reasonable expectations. But the restaurant really doesn't deserve these reviews. The food was very uninspired - out of 4 adult entrees that were ordered, not one was exciting and a few bordered on poor/terrible. The decor was very dated (it felt like you stepped into the 70s - and I'm sure that the wine glasses WERE from the 70s), and the location is crummy. Maybe it really is the best of Kankakee - but if so - then never ever eat anything in Kankakee. It certaintly was not on par with Chicago area French restaurants (in fact - it didn't even seem French at all). The staff were nice. The service was very slow - but as a result they brought us free appetizers. One of the appetizers was calamari - quite good - but the bed of noodles it lay on was more sauce than noodles.

Overall, it didn't deserve the stellar reviews.

Americas Bistro is the best, high quality, restaurant in Kankakee County with the most pleasant staff you will ever find.

My waiter's name was Angel and I give him Five stars.

Excellent food, great service. We always enjoy eating there, meets the standards of many Chicago restaurants.

THIS PLACE IS VERY GOOD. IT CAN BE COMPARED TO SOME OF CHICAGO OR ST. LOUIS RESTAURANTS.
