I have been a customer of Dixie for years. It is one Bar-b-que that I can eat, since most other places turn me off. just by smelling them. I have a problem with their sauces and the smell makes me sick. I have had to pick up your bar-b-que sliced by the pound, and your sauce, to take with me to Maryland, and now West Virginia, You are quite the legend to us living here, and former local residents.

This is legit old school BBQ. If you’re looking for run of the mill pulled pork with super sweet sauce..... this is not for you. It’s thin sliced with a traditional “Carolina” style sauce. A lot of people think if sauce isn’t like KC Masterpiece made w/95% sugar, it’s terrible. Expand your horizons, you’ll dig it!

I am from Kankakee, Il, and as I was traveling to Poplar Bluff Mo. to visit family I noticed the sign for Dixie Barbecue outside a quaint old whitewashed building that seemed to promise good food waiting inside- which just goes to prove the old saying true- 'NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER!' To be fair, the waitstaff were friendly, outgoing older women, that were eager to please- I could not complain about the service at all- and I tipped accordingly, though the tip was entirely due to the service, and not the stuff they called barbecue. The meat tasted watery, like it had been kept warm for a day or so, and the sauce? I asked if it was their own concoction, to which they proudly said YES!!!; It was hideous. A pink slime consisting I believe, of ketchup and miracle whip; to call it barbecue sauce seemed strange, although as I understand it, they have somewhat of a local following- once again- old sayings- 'IT'S ALL WHAT YOU GET USED TO!' At any rate, if you are a Barbecue connoisseur- or even if you are looking for a decent sandwich til you can get elsewhere, do yourself a favor and go to McDonalds- the quality is pretty consistent, they are required to meet health standards, and they are cheap. Sorry Dixie- thumbs down... way down!

This place has the best BBQ Pork in the world. My dad is from Jonesboro, Il and ever since I was a child its the place to eat. I am from Chicago, Il but I order pounds of this pork and take home beacuse its just so good, and the BBQ pork we have in the city, is no comparison to the BBQ pork that I love. I wish we had a DIXIE BBQ restaurant in Chicago, because this place is the BEST around............

Whenever I visit my relatives, I make sure to stop off at the Dixie! I LOVE their barbeque slathered in their secret sauce and covered with their even more special slaw mixture! This is definitely the greatest thing since sliced bread!
If you're looking from a "down home" restaurant with friendly workers or a barbeque sandwich that is second to none, be sure to eat at this time-honored establishment. It's just off the square in Jonesboro!
