I do not recommend this restaurant.
I visited Anatolia Cafe and Hookah Lounge on Tues, May 24 at 11:14AM for an early lunch, as I routinely do M -F since working in the immediate area for the past 9 years. Upon entering the restaurant, I walked the buffet style food line and evaluated the selections. I then inquired to the individual who was standing behind the counter about an item that appeared to be chicken. He answered confirming my presumption. I then asked about a second item. At that point the person annoyingly pointed at the menu, which was hanging above my head, stating that it explained the items among the selection. I responded that I was in a bit of a rush and that I really didn't have time to read the menu and asked if he could identify the second item. He replied that "he" didn't have time, because he had other customers besides me. I panned the room, and there were only 3 customers of which I could observe. I then replied that as a customer, I felt my question was reasonable and within seconds he replied that he was the owner and he had the right to refuse my service. I then asked, "So you're refusing my service due to me asking a reasonable question regarding the products you sell?" With strong conviction, he again told me to "get out!"
This is not the way I expect to be treated by businesses operating in our community. I strongly urge anyone who is considering this restaurant to think twice. There are too many businesses that actually appreciate customers and understand that without them they cannot operate sustainably. I am also lodging a complaint with the BBB and Georgia Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs.
After seeking legal advice, it was suggested that I attempt to resolve the issue with the establishment prior to filing a complaint with Georgia State Civil Court. I contacted someone at Anatolia Café to do just that but was met with further rudeness and an unwillingness to acknowledge they had unjustly refused me service. The person was a female who described herself as native of Turkey. She went on to criticize American culture, and stated that, "this is a family-owned business" and that it "picks and chooses its customers." She then went on to lament that she did not want "my kind" entering her place of business unless I "acted right." I then asked, "What do you consider acting right?" emphasizing that I had simply asked a basic question concerning an item on the food line. The owner replied that they did not have time to interact with customers adding that customers are expected to read the menu. She also stated that she opened her own business because she was, "sick of dealing with customers." So it seems bazaar that a business whose very existence relies on customers, has such a negative stance when it comes to the very entity upon which it relies. This business does not deserve your patronage, and I again urge you to think twice before considering Anatolia Cafe and Hookah Lounge. #ANTI-CUSTOMER SERVICE.
