I wrote that this restaurant was terrible, I have mixed emotions. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat. I used to go to this restaurant at least twice a week. I loved the prime rib(end cut), it was the best. Three years ago I went to the restaurant on my lunch hour. I ordered take out. When I got to the restaurant to pick up my order they were very busy. It was not a problem. I waited for a few minutes and one of the servers working offered me a complimentary lemonade. I accepted, when I received my order it was all there. I went to pay the bill and I noticed I had been charge for the complimentary lemonade. I asked the person who was ringing up my bill about the lemonade charge. I explained that it was supposed to have been complimentary. He told me that the restaurant does not give out complimentary lemonade and asked in these words "Do you want it or what?" The server who gave me the complimentary lemonade told him he gave it to me. I had only taken one sip out of my glass and I told him not if I had to pay for it. The server took the glass of lemonade that was on the counter and poured it out right in front of my face. I felt he did not have to do that, the way he did it was very unprofessional. This incident really hurt me. I was really surprised as I stated early I have been to this restaurant so many times before and their service was always "GREAT". I talk to the manager about the situation and he thought the employee did not handle the situation properly. He asked me to call and talk to the General Manager the next day. My problem began when I had to talk to the General Manager and Corperate Office they seemed to think the actions of the employee was proper. They did not have a problem with the employee pouring the drink out in front of my face. I have not been back to the restaurant since that day. I have told other people about the treatment I received and they could not believe it. Some of them stopped going to the restaurant. My problem is I really loved Houston's and I miss going there. I used to buy gift cards and give them out at Christmas time. I used to talk my Unit into going there for our Christmas party every year. That has all changed for me. I guess it will make me feel better writing this so I can finally move on. I lost something that I really loved doing that day and I don't know why it still bothers me, it really does. I guess it is because I really loved going to Houston's and I still miss it. Thanks for reading.

Restaurant has excellent food, however the reason it does not earn 5 stars is because of the vegatable selection which is very limited and it's whacked pick up order policy...

Houston's Manhattan Beach is by far one of my top restaurant for dining. The food is mouth watering. The Cajun rainbow trout(well done), baby back ribs, oven roasted chicken, spinach dip and the five nut brownie are to die for. The wait isn't to bad when your walking in. The service is great. I just wish that they would be able to do reservations for large parties, so that my family and friends would be able to enjoy some of their fantastic food. But never the less; I will always be a forever customer.

I have been going to the Manhattan Beach houstos for many many years and the restaurant has definitely changed.
I know a lot of employees that work there and they have always been kind. I do have to admit the new management is somewhat weird and I miss the "old" Houston's. I still love this restaurant and as a matter of fact I am going there tonight. =)
I always order the spinach dip which is to die for and the traditional sad. For my entree I usually get the fried fish of the day or a soup. Now for the grilled fish, the new management has it so that the chefs cook the fish right under well done...so make sure to ask for you fish well done. Who ever thought you would have to say that about fish. =)

I've been to quite a few of this chains restaurants and I have to say, they have an excellent overall satisfaction. Service is excellent and the food is great at a resonable price.

I don't understand the other ratings on here... quite surprising but it has been 2 years since I've been to this Manhattan location. I will be visting them this week so we'll see if things have changed.

I've been to all of them in SoCal and Los Altos & Sacramento in Norcal. I will give another report after I have been to Manhattan next week.

Regretfully, I have to say that this restaurant has deteriorated significantly over the past year. We used to come here on an average of twice a month as we appreciated the service and reliable good food at reasonable prices. We even put up with the no rservations policy that was in place until fairly recently by coming at other than peak hours. Last night, we went for what may be the last time. The service was horrible and when we asked for a manager to intervene, they did essentailly nothing -- whereas in the past if there was any problem at all, they would comp a desert or appetizer. The french fries which came with a $30 steak plate were cold, the salad dressing was "off" and it took us three tries to get water and 45 minute before we even got our salad delivered. It looks like their business is down signficantly from what it was -- and for good reason.

My husband and I went here to celebrate our anniversary. The only reason we came here is because we had a gift card, otherwise we wouldn’t have chosen this restaurant. We made reservations well in advance and confirmed them a few days before, yet we still ended up waiting over a half hour to be seated and the hostesses were very rude about it. The food was mediocre at best. We were pressured into ordering an appetizer even though I really wasn’t interested in one. The salad was awful. Don’t order the Caesar, because it tastes nothing like a Caesar should; it tasted like a Chinese salad. The steak was okay, but way under cooked from what I ordered. To top if off, they wouldn’t accept our gift card. They claimed that it had already been redeemed, but it hadn’t. Instead of accepting the mistake, the manager basically implied that I was a liar. I will never eat at this restaurant again, and I hope you won’t either. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant in my life.
