Sollys' Tamales do not taste the same because the people who are making them are NOT his family. Henry Sollys' business was stolen from the family upon his death, by a shady judge and a bogus Will. Dean McCain is NOT related and neither is Jennifer, or the late May Belle Hampton! How do I know? Because he was my great-grandfather and, though I was a child at the time, I witnessed most of what happened. I was there a few months before his death, when my great-grandfather who was still, surprisingly, of sound mind was going over his wishes with Judge Nichols that the business would go to his Family but that Maybelle and Dean would be included and have PART ownership. I was there the day of his funeral, when the so-called judge Nichols delivered the bogus Will to our already upset family as they were entering the funeral. I watched as my grandmother fell to her knees, sobbing because her birth right was being ripped from her hands. I spent many, many, MANY nights and days in that building on Washington Street, with my mother and grandmother who cared for Papa until the day he died. I also was there when a spiteful Dean McCain attempted to sue my grandmother for using her full, god-given name on the menus when Henry Sollys' family opened their own business on the Frontage Road. So, do what you want with this information, I have NO reason to lie, but the next time you hear Dean or Jennifer tell the story of how they obtained the business, do some reading on it and you will find that the story changes continuously. They don't have the Original recipe...That's all there is to it.
