I really was surprised today at the ignorant attitude and disposition that I received from manager today. I understand that we're all under a bit of pressure right now, but there is just no reason to resort to rudeness. Small businesses are being crushed right now. They would do anything to be able to be open and have customers for their employees and themselves. Unfortunately, this pompous young man failed to appreciate his business,at all.
My son went to the restaurant at 2pm to pick up their paper menu I had gotten previously but given back, since it's only a few select items they are serving right now. They were out of them, but told him that he could order on line. He came home, we went online and cold not find the special menu. I called at 3pm to ask where it was online. They told me where to look on the site. We just could not find it. At 3:45, we called back to just place the order. (My son's family are staying with us since they welcomed their new son into the world two weeks ago and their first son is ill.) So, it was a large order. We called for 45 minutes! It was a recorded message saying it was busy. So, I just drove over to order there. Several weeks ago, I did that, it was no problem.
There was a chalked arrowed entrance, blocked so one car only can get through with a gentleman standing there. I explained to him that I can't find where to order on the website, and the phone has been busy for 45 minutes, can I just place my order? He says that's not how they do it, I have to call it or online it. I explained I could not do either, I have a very large order, can I just write it down and hand it to him. He was very polite, says he'll try, but he's needs the manager.
The manager walks over like a bouncer from the 80's. I explained what happened and asked if I could place my order here. He Says, in his most alpha, military, authoritative voice, "absolutely not, we're in a pandemic here, this is a no contact zone, you'll have to exit the parking lot, go across the street and just keep trying the phone, we're very busy. " The whole time he's pointing as he's talking like he's a Stuart in an airplane. I repeated, we had a really big order, we've been trying for 45 minutes. I have gloves, I can write the order in paper, and hand the paper over, with gloves on. He repeats, "we're in a pandemic!" "You need to pull out and go across the street".
It's a really good thing my daughter was with me. I will be reporting him to their District Manager. I'm truly appalled. I was in the restaurant business 26 years! I don't know who hired him, but he wouldn't have worked in one of my restaurants!
So, I went across the parking lot. Called the Voorhees Olive Garden, placed my huge order, which, they heard me place. As I pulled out, I let them know I placed the order, when they smiled, I told them, " oh, not here, in Voorhees, have a great night ". Incidentally, Voorhees, 15 minutes away, had none of the military ridiculousness Deptford had going on. They were very careful, followed proper guidelines, but were happy and pleasant with their customers. It was a total different vibe!
We eat out a lot. We won't be going back to Deptford Olive Garden.
Ps, BTW- we couldn't get online to order because Deptford gave us the wrong info on how to order with this select menu-smh

Food was good but I don't think ill ever go back. We odered a pitcher of wine and it was almost all ice which was completely unnecessary considering the glasses were full of ice aswell. We odered another pitcher with no ice and they came back with less than a quater pitcher of wine. When we asked the waittress if we suposed to pay for a whole pitcher or a quarter the waitress very rudely and abruptly told us " that's a whole pitcher with no ice." Then walked away before we could tell her we were not spending $25 on frozen water. For warning do not waste your money on their watered down wine. The reason I don't want to go back is because if that's what they do to make their money I can't imagine what they are doing with their food to rip us off. Lower yoir prices if your gona lower your standards by ripping people off and stealing peoples money.
