I've been a regular customer at this restaurant since they first opened. And I have enjoyed the food, the attentive service, and the atmosphere, every time.

This upper west side restaurant offers the best tapas and meditteranean food in its area, the service is great and the staff is friendly.

Bello Sguardo is the best tapas place on UWS. Food is contistently fresh and well prepered, service is great, owner and all servers are friendly.

Bad experience. We had a private party at this restaurant, and it would have been a perfect event if not for the very ambivalent and rude manager. The food and drinks were good, and the room itself is beautiful, but we ended up cleaning and setting up the room ourselves 15 minutes before our guests arrived as nothing was set up beforehand. And, he was extremely rude to us and our guests when we chanced to complain. I do not recommend this venue under the current management.

Had Sunday brunch at Bello Sguardo. After waiting almost 1 hour for our food and seeing that tables that came 20-30 minutes after us received their food before us, our patience was running out. We told our waitress (who was very nice) our frustration as we were still waiting for our food (simple eggs benedict). She told the owner who then went into the kitchen and came back 10 minutes later (doesn't take the long to poach eggs) wiht our food, but NO apology. I expressed to him that this type of service was unprofessional and unacceptable and he gave us a very curt and rude response saying that things happen and that there was a mix up b/c they were so busy (restaurant was 1/3 full) and then walked away. To top off his rude response, the eggs benedict meal was small portioned and mediocre. Definitely will never go back...
