Look, I was a restaurant owner and can tell you that they do not have it all together in the service end. However, the servers are very nice and try their best, and for that they get credit. Customer's are not all that easy and can make things difficult. But mostly let me talk about Prestos food. I have been going there for at least 7 years and if you want authentic Italian food, this is the place. There has not been one meal that I have not completely enjoyed. I recommend you try it, leave the stress and attitude at home and enjoy an incredible meal.

Food was decent, restaurant decor was unimpressive, and service was terrible. I would give it 2.5 stars. Only good thing about the place is that is was BYOB and all the wine we drank and the good company was enough to keep me from complaining.

STAY AWAY! SERVICE IS ATROCIOUS AND BEYOND RUDE.
Our group of 4 were told 30 minutes to be seated and that there was no one ahead of us, we were just waiting for a table to get up. We left our cell. number, at the restaurant's behest, and waited for the call. After 40 minutes I went back into the restaurant to find a new 4 top AND a new 5 top seated before us. When we asked what had happened and asked to be seated, the young woman that runs the crew on the weekends offered no apology or expanation, and instead began an all night campaign of ignoring us completely.
Having spent nearly 10 years in the restaurant industry, I assure you, this woman has no business selling beef jerky at a gas staion, let alone acting as hostess and server at a halfway decent resaturant. She is vindictive and incompetent. To top it off she charged our credit card twice, just to spite us.
A simple apology would have sufficed and we would have forgotten everything, but she is incapable of admitting wrongdoing and chose to treat us as if we'd done something wrong. Never again.
Not worth it. What a shame because we like the food but no meal is worth this level of immaturity.

The mussels in white wine sauce is amazing and the service is slow but the food is very good. The amount of bread they give is very cheap and if you look on the menu extra bread is $2.00. I am hoping that they will take the extra two dollars they are charging for bread and get a new carpet or suitable chairs.
Then I would rewrite my review with five stars:)

I LOVE Presto's! Their food is amazing! They serve the BEST CHICKEN PARM around, and if you want a little ZING- ask for their SPECIAL sauce! I have been going there with friends and hubby for about 8 years! It's a MUST try and continue to come back kind of restaurant. It is NOT fancy at all. It's BYOB- which is awesome for today's economic climate, the service is great, but I will be honest and tell you- slow. The servers are super nice and friendly. The only reason the service is slow is because everything is made fresh to order. TRUST ME- it is worth the wait!! The restaurant looks like someones living room as my husband says, but I think it's cozy and just fine! LOVE IT HERE! MUST TRY!

Let me 1st say, that I lived in the area and becasue of good reviews I went to Pestos. I just ate there this past week, which was actually my 3rd attempt to go there. My 1st 2 attempts I was actually told they would not seat and serve me with over 30 mins left on their posted operating time in front of the restaurant - They were also extremely rude about it both times.

Service - Terrible - We were asked for drinks once initally and it was not filled up again until I was almost done with my main course - I also had to apps as well

Atmosphere - It is a hole in the wall for the most part, which I don't mind at all - But If you care about atmosphere than Pestos is not for you.

Food - Simply not good - I had zucchini sticks and tomato/Mozzeralls - Both were ok at best - They claim the mozz is homemade - I doubt it. Main course was veal francaise - Terrible cuts of veal, too thick and 2 of 3 were ridiculously small. Sauce just ok.

My friends main course was eggplant Parm - All I need to say is that the slices were cut like silver dollar pancakes at your local diner. Instead of being cut long ways and very thin - Absolutely terrible. Sauce was decent

I have read all the reviews that Presto's was good food that was worth the wait and poor service.
It's not.

The quality of the food was "okay" as judged by 5 people. We ordered mozzerella sticks (and received 5 for a party of 5) and baked clams. Both items were on par at best. We ordered off of the (cheap) photocopies of a specials menu and the pieces of paper stuck under the sheet of plastic covering the table some basic italian dishes, because that is all that this place has. That can be nice when your only in the mood for shrimp scampi or chicken parm. Don't expect any frills, though.

The service was horrible at best. A reservation was made, but once we got to the restaurant, it magically never was put in. The owner informed us that someone from the kitchen staff must have taken it. We then waited 45 minutes out in the cold, since there is no where to actually wait.

Don't bother. We were looking for a great family run Italian place and Presto's always has a line so we thought this must be it. What a disappointment! The staff did tell us the food is prepared as ordered so we were ready for a wait but this was ridiculous. Why do I have to wait for bread and water? A delay on the salad too? The food was nothing special to say the least even though we both ordered the specials. One of us asked for linguine for our pasta side dish and the other spaghetti. We were both brought out linguine. Ok, so that's not so bad, however one came out with the entree and the other pasta came out 20 minutes later. Both were not HOT!! Why I am waiting at all for pasta in an Italian place????? Couldn't get any more bread or water even though we asked. This place is BYOB and we hadn't brought a bottle so we had to experience this dining nightmare without any alcohol to blunt the pain. If you insist on going don't forget yours!!!

This is the best Italian restaurant in the area. Their pasta dishes are classic Italian fare, just prepared perfectly by nailing al dente cooking. Their specials seem to be their best dishes, but everything is excellent. Pizza is also the best in the area. Crispy, thin crust and delicious! Surprisingly way better than anything in Manhattan. But it's take out only and it takes at least 30 minutes.

Food here takes a while, but it's clearly worth it.

The problem here is the service is the worst. Servers are sweet, but they get lost talking to their customers and then their other tables get neglected. This place is extremely small. Absolutely no excuse not to have all the tables well taken care of. Fill water glasses, setting tables, taking orders in proper chronology, getting bread to the tables (especially since the food takes a while).. all things that I've witnessed. Just seems to be an unnecessary negative to have such bad service in such an amazing restaurant.

The food is generally really good, but don't go if you are famished. You will have to wait for the food. If you can stand the wait, however, it's worth it.
