The first time I visited Tomasita's was in June of '77. The restaurant was in a small converted gas station (I think) with a gravel parking lot. The front door was a screen door that banged close and had a hole in the screen. The cook had a t-shirt on with a pack of cigarettes rolled in the sleeve! This little St.Louis city girl was really out of her element! I had never heard the words chimichanga, posole, green chili, blue corn tortilla, sopapilla. But, it was the most incredible meal I have ever had! I don't think I'm generalizing either. I can't remember any other great meal in such detail! I was really disappointed the next time I went as it had moved to a bigger, better building. But the food was still great. I hope some year I will get to come back!

Watch for the Sysco truck ! Absolutely the worst place in town. great location, so profit margins are really good since all the food is cheaply produced. THIS IS NOT NEW MEXICAN ! gross, foul, and a tourist trap. i lived in NM for 10 years , originaly from Buffalo, NY. I love local food etc. Save your money and time don't eat here. Read the Local flavor newspaper, or try The palza cafe by the movie theaters on cerrillos road. Local meat and farm to table. So is Joes diner, best Italian in town. Do you want authentic mexican fast food? I have found the best at Burrito Spot. Last I went to Tomasitas i got the runs, so approach carefully. Sage bakehouse is awesome too. And backroad Pizza. I havn't found a good place for hot wings as of yet, just make myself. Best ever Thai is Pho Kim, By the co-op(St Francis and Paseo de Peralta). Best hands down authentic Sushi is---> Shoko cafe. I know Ziggy at Omira, used to have a asian food store. Omira has great food, little high in price but dam i love tons of local meat brought non-stop plus real belgian beer ! WOW what an experience ! Have fun in Santa Fe.
I hope someone benifits from my information by being full and happy from a great meal.

The best food in Santa Fe! Service was excellent and price reasonable. Ramiro was a very attentive waiter making sure everything was to our satisfaction. The combination is hard to find in our hurry up world. We will definitely eat there again when in Santa Fe!

Wanted to enjoy a good mexican lunch, I was fooled I orderer the Mexican Plate BIG MISTAKE! !!!! The posloe is not posloe it is canned hominy. The chile rellano was fried to DRY My plate came out looking like it ment to slop the hogs..
On another plate the meat in the taco had so much spices. It tasted nasty. This place is not a place for locals unless you are a transplant..I am native and I know my foods. This is a tourist trap, Beware!!
