Last week I went to Las Palmas for dinner. It was close to 9 pm and I was alone. Upon entering the cashier was busy talking to a customer. While standing I picked up a menu to look at the offerings. The restaurant was not busy and had only a few customers. I finally caught the eye of the cashier and asked if I could sit in the closet booth. He nodded yes. I found out later that the cashier was the owner. He came to my table and I ordered a margarita. I then gave him my food order and was very specific. Ground beef burrito plain. I asked that only meat, cheese, and sauce be put on my burrito. I also ordered double rice instead of beans and rice and a side of sour cream.. The waiters and the owner were laughing and having a good time. I had to get their attention and asked for the chips and salsa again. I am still waiting for my meal 15 minutes later. The owner/cashier finally arrived and handed me a bag to go. I said to him "I did not order my food to go I plan to eat my meal here. He said " I thought you wanted it to go because you were standing up looking at the menu." I again repeated that I had never said anything about a "to go" order. I was never asked if it was to go or eat in! He returned to the kitchen and 15 minutes later returns to my booth with my dinner. My burrito was covered with lettuce and tomatoes and a dolp of sour cream on the top. I advised the owner that I had ordered it plain with nothing but meat, cheese and sauce. He just stood there and tried to stare me down and finally said "I a not going to serve you forget your margarita. I was not using ugly language nor did I raise my voice. He walked away from the table and headed to the back of the restaurant. I was stunned. I left with no intention of ever returning. I am a local and you can rest assured that this information will circulate among my friends and printed in our specific neighborhood paper and email. The problem was not with me but with the owner who did not pay attention to what I had ordered.
