Food always seemed ok,but today, fries were NOT done on the inside, they were hard, Had a refill but asked for it to go, cup they gave me was just about 3 inches bigger so i asked waitress to please add those few inches of coke to the drink. Never drank the original refill , this was it,, she did and charged me more money as i was checking out. Sorry, not going back that put a bad taste in my mouth ,BUT IF i was s still sitting at the table, she would have brought me a refill if i asked like she did to others there. I SHOULD have gone over sand took the $3.00 tip back off of the table, as she never came around only to ask if i wanted a refill.

second trip here - great service - pleasant waitress - lots of customers there. We had the special sandwich for $5.99 - nice grilled chicken breast topped with ham and 2 cheeses and green peppers - so delicious - must have changed hands since the others were there - we love this place and had great food and service both times. check it out....

We were in town for business today. Both ordered $14.99 "Pike Steak Dinners"--higher cost of meal for a small diner-type restaurant, but boss was paying because we'd gone out of our way for company, so we'd earned a steak. I asked waitress if the steak here was good-- she said, yes, very good--lots of people order it. Soon she came to table, said there was only one dinner steak left, would we mind if they used the sandwich steak on one? I asked, was it good? She said, yes it's real good and a little thicker than the dinner steak. What could we say? No, I guess we didn't mind. We asked what kind of bread-- rolls? No, Italian bread. OK-- and after we left, we realized, she never brought any bread at all!
Both steaks were ordered medium-well, we asked for some pink inside-is that medium-well to her?. Waitress said, yes, that is medium-well.
Both steaks came--both thin, dry and done all brown. His was on the plate alone, no gravy, no garnish--1 piece of dried brown steak on 1/2 an oval white plate. His sides were peas and cottage cheese--both served on separate applesauce-sized small bowls ($14.99!)
Husband was starved, he slathered it in A-1 sauce and ate it . The taste of mine (supposedly the last dinner steak) was bland, dry (NO juices at all-NONE) and it had a frozen/thawed taste and looked exactly like my husband's "sandwich" steak! I will say, the scoop of mashed potatoes did taste fresh from the box. I did have 2 or 3 small bites of it. After a couple bites of the meat, I couldn't attempt the tiny bowl of broccoli. I'd lost my appetite.
I apologized, told her I'm sorry, I can't eat this--I don't want this. I really did not want to hurt anyone's feelings and told her that. The waitress insisted no one ever sent the steak back--everyone liked it and she seemed a bit insulted, so I didn't want to chance ordering something else. I drank my coffee (it was very good!)
Husband finished his food, we both finished coffee, got the bill, yes she took the one meal off, but his, the "sandwich steak" wasn't repriced. His meal was exactly: peas (maybe 3 heaping tablespoons), cottage cheese and piece of dry thin brown steak, still called Pike Steak Meal--$14.99! When paying (no owner in sight-another waitress checked us out), I explained about the use of "sandwich steak", and asked how the dry steak small peas and cottage cheese came to $$14.99? She looked at me and said, 'You already got the other meal off the bill', I replied, "I couldn't eat it!" By then, our waitress came over and again repeated how no one ever returned their steaks! Feeling ganged up upon, we just wanted out of this dive! So we left--glad to get away from these people. And we have already began to warn co-workers!
We went in the place in such a good mood, but left really disappointed and kind of amazed at the experience.
Eating out is part of the job and it's been years since we've had such a dinner experience, so our advice....STEER CLEAR OF SHELLEY'S PIKE DINER INN on Pike Rd north of Washington, PA (Houston,PA)!
PS After the fact, I read reviews and the negative comments about the waitresses, sadly, were true. THAT says more about management, owners-- NOT the waitresses--management allows this behavior.

from their point of view, it is your pleasure to be there, not the opposite - the food is not the good either, will not go back
