Disappointed. Have eaten there in the past. Definitely not what it was at prior dining experiences.

Gave a great review on another site raving about Russell's recently. I will say their food is quite good, so this review is not about their food.
Read some other reviews a few days after and didn't realize that they charge a 4% surcharge on credit card payments. It said that they put the surcharge on the receipt, but if you pay cash, they will remove the charge.
Well, I had lunch on 4/1/21 and paid cash and the surcharge was not removed. I wasn't aware of the tactics then. So, I did some research and found it's illegal to add a surcharge when paying with debit cards, only credit cards. So, I kept my receipt and plan on another visit soon and will bring this to their attention. I don't mind paying reasonable prices for great seafood, but it's not right to steal from people, in hopes they do not notice. Owner/Manager response was "it's stated on menu at bottom where they have a phrase about undercooked foods". Well, well, well. Savvy strategy. Thought I had found my new 'go to" restaurant, but I don't take well to thievery.

For $88 for 3 people I expected the food to be very much better. The flounder was very thin, the scallops and shrimp were both rubbery and it all tasted like it had been frozen.

I won't eat there again. I have had better seafood at Captain D's.

We go to Murrells Inlet often and Russell's is one of the places we love going to. The food is great and the place makes you feel at home. We love the Russell always takes to us at the door and makes us feel welcome. This place is a gem.

while the food is very Good. The owner and Staff (My waiter was Male) was amazing. How many owners of any business do you know of that actually stand by the door and jump to open it for you, Ask how you are, and make you feel like not only part of a family but a really a buddy that he hasn't seen in a long time. The staff was great they took the time to treat you as if you were the only customer in the place. The food was excellent but on first glance the menu was confusing and looks as if they only fried their food... BUT the confusion was quickly replaced and all my food was Broiled as per my instructions. The Owner Russel is a rare gem in corporate chain like eating places in the MB Area. I only wish that I'd found his place at the beginning of my vacation instead of the end, Oh and the Food Prices were very reasonable. I had to Drinks, My wife an Ice Tea I had a dozen wings and I believe a double up platter which consisted of large stuffed crab, scallops, shrimp, oysters,Two large pieces of fish. The Bill was like Thirty-Six Dollars..
great Job Russell
