Me and my family went to eat at the Alpine inn and ordered the Filet mignon for me and my wife. It did Not taste like a filet mignon and was super chewy and rough , I had to spit out every bite because it was not edible. I spoke with the hostess and she swore up and down that the steaks were real filet mignon and that they butterfly cut the filet mignon and that they are low quality steaks to keep the prices low. I told the hostess that the steaks taste like low quality tenderized sirloin steaks and the hostess said that I probably just got a bad steak and that happens sometimes. I can’t prove that it’s not a filet mignon steak but I can tell you that it sure did not taste like one and it was chewy like rubber, I’ve never had a filet mignon that was chewy like rubber with no flavor. The meal was not worth the $19 I paid for my steak , I would have gladly paid more for a good tasting filet mignon. The hostess said that they only get good reviews and they rarely get complaints about their filet mignons which I did not understand why she made this comment. The salad was a big hunk of iceberg lettuce drenched in ranch dressing. I would not consider this restaurant fine dining what so ever. Also the kids meal hotdogs seemed to be very low quality, I would assume the hotdogs were pork and the buns were very low quality. The positive thing I can say is that the building is nice and the staff were ok but I feel like they were lying to me about the steaks and it was very obvious by the way they responded when I asked if the steaks were filet mignons. I was very disappointed in the food. I still paid them the $65 for the bill but honestly the food was super low quality and I would not recommend eating at this place.

We have been visiting at the Black Hills since 1997. Alpine Inn is a must dining place at least twice while there. Everything is excellent, have never had a bad experience. We've tried other places in Hill City if the wait time was long, nothing compares to Alpine Inn.

A local favorite, people drive from Rapid just to eat up here.

I love this place, the lunch menu has a German base while the dinner is very simple (large or small filet). But the deserts are the best!! I always come here for a meal when I get a chance to come back to the Black Hills.

I love the German Plate with two kinds of Bratwurst and Spaetzle for lunch, and the desert is fair game! You can't go wrong.

(But warning, they do not accept credit cards but I think there is an ATM in the lounge.)
