My husband and I have vacationed in Chincoteague often, and we have often had dinner at Bill's over the past four years. I have very mixed reviews. I will say that the service has always been excellent, but the quality of the food is variable. I am from Rhode Island originally and know what fresh, well prepared seafood tastes like, but I have often been disappointed with the preparation of fresh fish at Bill's. The last time a flounder dish was tasteless and dried out. They rely on copious amounts of drawn butter to revive their listless broiled or baked fish. They seem to have no idea how to bring out the delicate flavor of fresh fish. The first time there I ordered a fish dish on a bed of pasta which had a motionless glump of béchamel sauce on it. They were very quick to address my complaint, but they have little to offer except a sometimes good baked potato, fries, and the absolutely worst vegetable sides I have ever had. The vegetables are consistently overcooked and flavorless. Their salads are sometimes very good and sometimes on the level of cheap cafeteria food. Sometimes their signature crab stuffed mushrooms are wonderful and other times just mediocre. Their signature Shrimp Scampi was completely unimpressive when I tried it last time, and since they never serve rice of any kind, you have just pasta, a baked potato with the offer of bacon-cheddar sauce (I have passed on that since I do not eat bacon) and fries. I did enjoy their honey-glazed bread, but they did not have that the last time. Since we order a bottle of wine and sometimes have cocktails, our bill with tip runs over $150, but it is just mediocre with occasional surprises. The dessert is okay but nothing special. They are always very busy, but if their food continues to be mediocre, there is plenty of room for a competitor offering much more to the on and off season crowd.

Have eaten in Bills many times over the course of 25 yrs. & it was always quite good. Had lunch this past Monday 7/10 and it was awful. I got the shrimp & fried green tomato salad, which was rather expensive in my opinion, for lunch, but acceptable if it had been prepared properly. Mini frozen shrimp; nothing, including the tomatoes, were fried properly. My friend got a turkey club with more than enough turkey, however it looked like it came from an Oscar Meyer package from the grocery store. I will never eat there again, it was that bad.
