There is no Smokies without Okie, he was the heart and soul of that place, he was very kind and fun, I have never seen a place like that before or since, you felt like family there. It was shut down because of the building violations, it was in bad shape

I was in there the other day for an interview. John (the new owner) has completely remodeled the place. All the kitchen appliances, ice wells, bar etc are brand new. You can tell that he truly cares about Smokies and is going to make it better than ever. He has hired an awesome executive chef with high standards and a bartender/server who cares for her customers and takes pride in everything she does. So far. He is turning it in to a great place for the locals so they
Will always have a place for fun and recreation. I feel honored that John is giving me a chance. I'm looking fotward to being part of the team!!!

03/29/2011 - I wish Okie still owned it
Wow, this place has truly changed. There is a new owner and he has no idea what he's doing. He changed the menu but there was nothing wrong with it originally. He fired the entire staff that had been there for years. The place made money at one time now it is dead as can be. He was suppose to make improvements but he just made it worse. He actually held a charity event for someone in jail and kept the money for himself. The bathrooms are disgusting and there are cockroaches everywhere. What a D--ch-!!!!
