Before delving into our experience, I want to recommend some great alternatives in the area for families:

Seabrook Vacation Rentals
Kalaloch Lodge
Quinault Lodge
Forks Motel
We've had wonderful experiences at #s 1, 3, and 4.

On the morning of our check-in day, I called the resort at 10:36 am to confirm if they could provide a Pack n Play for our infant son. We had booked a double queen bedroom for myself, my wife, and my 2 daughters already. The hotel staff assured me they could accommodate this request.

We arrived at the resort around 4:30 pm, and that's when our problems began. The staff requested confirmation of who would be staying in the room. When I mentioned my wife, 2 daughters, and our infant son, we were informed that we needed to purchase an extra room to comply with "fire code" requirements.

While we understand the need to charge for additional guests, the sudden request for an extra room, priced at $192 for a single night, came as a surprise. To make matters worse, they could only book us for the 1st and 3rd nights, leaving us scrambling to find accommodations elsewhere for the 2nd night. Finally, the staff just told us they could not accomodate us around 5pm.

Despite our predicament, the resort staff didn't offer alternatives or assistance in finding another room in the area, leaving us to solve the problem ourselves.

To add to our frustration, the resort staff suggested we cancel through Expedia, where we initially booked our rooms, hinting at a potential partial refund. This left us dumbfounded as we'd never encountered such a situation before. What hotel refuses to check you in but insists on holding onto the money? The result? A substantial sum of $1,719.12 still in the resort's pocket, all thanks to their inflexibility and lack of empathy. They have our money 2 weeks later as I am posting this review!

The behavior of the staff, particularly General Manager Jesse, was nothing short of rude and arrogant. We've never experienced such mistreatment before.

With no alternative but to find last-minute accommodations on a holiday weekend, we spent an additional $350 for just one night, turning our planned 3-night excursion into a $2,000 ordeal. My family and I returned home the following evening, beyond dejected over the mismanagement by Ocean Crest Resort of what should have been a simple matter of hospitality. Management could have offered to credit us for a different weekend. The staff could have called around and helped to find us another hotel. They did nothing. They offered no help and no willingness to assist us with the problem they created.

Our experience at Ocean Crest Resort was deeply disappointing, compounded by the poor hospitality and lack of assistance from the staff. We returned home two days earlier than planned, disheartened by our experience.

Despite being told we'd receive a partial refund by the general manager, Jesse, it has not materialized even after two weeks. I am beyond frustrated. He has repeatedly dodged calls from the Expedia and Chase travel managers working on this case rather than own up to the mistake and resolve the matter. After this ordeal, I'm actively pursuing a full refund.

My advice: Exercise caution when dealing with anyone from Ocean Crest Resort, particularly Jesse the General Manager. Frankly, the snazzy website and online pictures do not capture the true dumpiness of the "resort" and that should have been our first clue when we rolled up.Cheaper and more family-friendly options in the area are readily available, including Seabrook Vacation Rentals, Kalaloch Lodge, Quinault Lodge, and Forks Motel.

In summary, don't choose Ocean Crest Resort for your stay; there are far better options available in the same area.
