Let me start this by saying I have been in a lot of restaurants all over the south east from Knoxville, Tn to New Orleans, LA and all in between. I've tasted the best and the worst of them. This is the best place to eat in the area HANDS DOWN and in my all area/all time top 3. The food is excellent..I highly recommend it.
Personal favorites, although I with you on the cheese dip guys definitely amazing, are Texas enchiladas (steak and shrimp enchiladas w/ rice, beans, pico da gallo and guacamole @ $8.50) and Tampico Steak (flank steak topped with picante sauce and shrimp w/ rice, beans, salad, tortillas and a side @14.95). The side salad is the best I have seen in size and quality (never had a dated tomato), The steak is always cooked to perfection the way I order it..which is actually uncommon around here, I have gotten a lot of steaks over cooked in many other area establishments. Shrimp is always perfectly cooked, again uncommon, most people over cook it and it becomes rubbery. I could really go on about the food for hours, But I won't..just try it and you'll see what I mean.
I have had one below par server, and she wasn't really not that bad, slightly too inattentive for my taste...But I have had FAR worse. The servers and hostess are otherwise always excellent. They are very friendly and attentive without going too far, which I have seen plenty of as well.
I frequent this place at least once a week, more lately because my pregnant girlfriend craves the texas enchiladas quite often. Every time that I have been there is only one mexican server and her english is great. She is the best server there. The hostess is also mexican, her english isn't great but fine and she is very friendly.
Overall... nice atmosphere, amazing food, fair pricing and excellent service that truly does treat you like famila, you just can't afford not to at least try this place. Im quite sure you will see me there sometime :) it's never crowded.
