Had a quite but delicious meal on Monday ( got the 2nd buffet free with our church bulletin). Loved the fresh fish and fried biscuit's served as a pre course snack. Great service topped of a good meal.

The food is great! The staff is wonderful! The ambience is special! And it's always good to see the Wicked Witch!!

Old wooden building is nice. Tablecloths, antiques and older music playing. The older waiter was excellent but the food could have been better for the 16.95 lunch buffet price. Fried chicken and desserts good but turkey was tasteless. There were only 2 vegetables.

Goofy girl talks way to much to be a server! Never will go back

Prices too high for what is served. Decent food. Very friendly service. Probably better when the Covid-19 restrictions aren’t in place.

We ate dunner at the Gift Horse this week and really enjoyed the beauty of the restaurant. Loved the old music (classic) that we heard being played while we dined. The buffet was very good. Our waitress was very sweet and full of joy. Overall experience was nice.

We came to Gulf Shores for Thanksgiving and planned to have a great dinner at this restaurant which we visited a few years back. At that time, we were very impressed, but yesterday's Thanksgiving dinner (which was very over priced even with all the offerings) was not up to par at all.
The meat selection was limited, shredded turkey instead of sliced and the roast beef was cold; other warm dishes were cold; the well known cheese apples were not up to par; the green beans and potatoes were tasteless; the 40-years-out-of-date Watergate salad should have been eliminated. The crawfish bisque and fried biscuits were very good (and warm) and the dressing was outstanding; the desserts were average, but the cakes that were displayed were not part of the meal, Amazing, we paid $20.95 and could not eat a piece of their signature cake??!! The soft drinks were all $2.25 apiece, even Coke, which was served in a can! That is outrageous to pay that much for one Coke that you could get in a convenient store for less than $1! After taxes and drink I paid slightly over $25 a person and came away sick at my stomach, not of the food, but the outlandish cost. I left with $126 less in my pocket and I felt ripped off as a tourist visiting the beach. I will never go back to the Gift Horse again. Unless you have money to throw away and enjoy mediocre food, I would avoid this place.

Amazing fresh tasty buffet. Salad bar while small was awesome. Food was hot and full of southern grandma style flavor. Server was extremely friendly and went out of her way to be sure drinks were replenished. She came around as we were finished and mentioned the desert bar and items available. We will be back.

You won't believe the food at the Gift Horse. It is absolutely great. Crawfish bisque and fried chicken done right. Fried biscuits that are down home and salads that cover one entire serving table. It is good, I tell you and you will enjoy it too. Servers are friendly and helpful and the ambience of the old place can be felt. After your
delicious meal, visit their two antique shops - one on the corner and one down the street. You'll need to walk off your dinner.

Used to be good, but, last time I ate there it was very disappointing. Food did not taste good at all.

Ate there several years ago and it was just okay. Thought I would give it another try. I wont make that mistake a third time. The food was horrible and the staff seemed too involved talking to other servers to pickup plates or get a refill. The goofy girl at the register did not seem to care when I mentioned my displeasure with the meal. She actually laughed.

Very disappointing...came to the
gift Horse every summer for years on our way to
gulf shores. It's been several years and this time we looked forward to a great meal. Well, that didn't happen. The salad bar was just ok.
the food wasn't hot, fried rolls were hard, soup was cold, the famous cheese and apples were just apples and not enough cheese to taste, service was really bad, no refills on iced tea. I am so disappointed and will never return.

Host unfriendly...acted as though we were "bothering him". Then the high chair was broken and the man could not find another tray. No refills offered on our tea. Food tasted great.

DROVE UP FRPM GULF SHORES WITH FAMILY. HUNGRY FOR HOME STYLE FOOD. SOMEONE AT CHURCH RECOMMENDED GIFT HORSE SINCE THEY HAVE A TWO FOR ONE ON SUNDAY IF YUOUR BRING YOUR CHURCH BULLETIN WITH YOU. WE WERE ALL SATISFIED WITH OUR MEAL. HUSBAND LOVED THE FRIED CHICKEN. I LOVED THE BREAD PUDDING. DAUGHTER LOVED SHRIMP SALAD. ALL LOVED THE FRIED BISCUITS. IT WAS REASONABLE AND FULL OF AMBIANCE.

One of the very best in Foley ... we drive 250 miles to lunch at the Gift Horse.

Went to a Christmas Brunch at this restaurant and what an array of selections. Couldn't believe it. The "apple/cheese" is really old south. Everything was good, good, good!!! Lovely old restored building. Homey. Try it, you'll like it.

My friends and I had a picnic! Such good food and what a variety. Good coffee. Delicious ice tea. Apple cheese is delicious. Everyone loved it. We will go back!

Cozy atmosphere. Like casual and friendly style.
Reasonable.

The quality of service and the variety of selections has drastically gone down in the last year. This restaurant used to be the star of Foley eateries but for some reason they have decided to live on their reputation rather than maintaining it. Very disappointing!

The first few times we went to "The Gift Horse" we were thrilled, and just knew we had found a jewel. We took friends there for the food, and to show them the building which has a long and storied history. The price was a welcome change from the high price restaurants have started to charge.

Over the last two, or three years, something regretable has happened. The price suddenly went up, and at the same time, the quality of the food drooped way down. They have developed a habit of not replacing things on the buffet if the time is getting late for the lunch crowd, mainly the crawfish chowder like dish. Things have gotten so bad that we have finally quit stopping there at all.

Are you listening, Gift Horse?
