We love this place

We come here primarily for the great southern seafood choices. My favorite app is the crab dip followed by a shrimp entree. They have a few and no strong preferences yet.

We had our Christmas dinner last night. Our service was the excellent.
The atmosphere was wonderful. The appetizers were great. Dinners were very good. Grouper soup was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant for your
special dining.

7/19/13, last meal before heading home to Raleigh. Prime Rib was on special. I have traveled around the world and eaten in many of the worlds finest restaurants. Last night was by far the best I have ever eaten. The prime rib (med/rare and blackened) melted in my mouth. The flavor burst live with every bite. The chowder rivaled all I had savored in the past. I would recommend the Deck House to everyone.

Our first and only visit to the Deck House was disappointing. The shrimp and grits was not good. The grits were actually some sort of grit cakes with no taste what-so-ever. We ordered mojitos and they had no sugar in them and tasted nasty - like plain soda water. The service was slow. The kids did enjoy their ribs, however. We do not plan to eat there again.

In Carolina Beach for the weekend from Michigan. the Manhattan Clam chowder and the grouper chowder were wonderful. The scallops that best ever. Would certainly go again,

I went to the Deck house last night for dinner to celebrate a family gathering. We were seated right away which was the highlight of our dining experience. Service was slow, took 10 minutes to get our drinks. Food was awful, shrimp overcooked, steak overcooked, salad was skimpy and had brown lettuce, potatoes cold and no bread was given to us despite us asking for it since other tables around us were served bread. We asked to speak to the manager but she was fake and did nothing to solve the problem. Save your money!!! Do not go to the deckhouse for dinner, too many better options out there.

Ate at the Deck House on 8/12 on the recommendation of another. The meal and service was the worst I have ever experienced. We also had to pay 18% automatic gratuity which was not earned. Appetizers: grouper chowder tasted like flour, Manhattan chowder tasted like it had been poured from a Campbell's can. Main course: Shrimp scampi with potatoes - shrimp over cooked, tough and oily, potatoes tasted like instant; oriental stir fry with shrimp and scallops - overwhelming soy sauce, the scallop was the only highlight in that it was tender; Flounder and fried shrimp with fries - how could they mess this up???; kids meal, chicken tenders - horrible, microwave type and not even white meat, No bread offered or served at all, Impossible to get a refill on Iced Tea and took 15 minutes to get check after we were done eating. Definitely overpriced for what you get! Save your money and try Sea Witch or Michael's, both consistently Great.

Local to Carolina Beach my whole life, I believe Deckhouse is under new management this year but they have always been wonderful, and tonight we were pleased to find that they still are! Thursday night special of the Whole Maine Lobster was perfect, pre-cracked claws & tails (very helpful), and the ribeye was cooked perfect to order. :) Great food Great Service Great Atmosphere

Of all the places in Wilmington and surrounding beaches, I chose Deck House for my birthday dinner because it has always been so good. I have never been more disappointed. I started eating at their restaurant "Market Street" in Wilmington many years ago. When it closed, I started eating at "Deck House" which had the same type menu. Their specials board used to be loaded with scrumptious dishes with sauces that you couldn't get anywhere else. On this visit, there were few specials and nothing different than you could get most anywhere. The salad was brown head lettuce with 2 tomato wedges and 2 cucumber slices. The cheese sticks poured water out when you bit them and they were tough. The fried oysters were soggy, the scallops were huge which indicates they were actually cuts from shark meat and not scallops at all. The tartar sauce was so sour you couldn't eat it. They no longer serve bread with their meals. The portions were very skimpy, quality of the food was poor, and the meals were way overpriced. I'm not sure if they have changed ownership or management but this is not the quality restaurant is has been for many years. There was no wait on Saturday night which should have been my first clue. Even the soap in the restroom was so cheap it would not lather. They have lost a long time customer and I have lost my favorite dining experiences. Boo, Hiss, Boo!

My wife and I live in Wilmington, but stay in Carolina Beach very often. We have been going to the Deck House for many years and have enjoyed ourselves every time. The quality of both the food and service is very good and consistent. I read the one bad review, and I would be upset in the same situation, but so far the 30 + visits have been very enjoyable.

We loved the Deck House! The food is wonderful, especially the tuna..cooked to perfection, and the service was great. We ate there twice in our three week stay and both times had an enjoyable experience. If we were to stay in Carolina Beach longer, we would definitely be back!!

We went for the first time last weekend. We found the food delicious and our waitress was wonderful. We ate with friends we had not seen in a while and our waitress never let our glasses get empty and we never felt rushed to leave after we ate.
It was a wonderful experience. I am actually including it in our book for friends that stay at our place.

We read the reviews before we went to the Deck House and although there was one bad review, we read all the good ones and decided to try it any way. We were extremely pleased that we decided to try it. The service was excellant and we were well taken care of. The food was out of this world!! From the appetizer to the dessert, nothing was disappointing. this will definately become one of our favorite places.

Our family discovered the Deckhouse thanks to our son-in-law in 2003, when we we're vacationing in Carolina Beach. His family had been ther many times before while on family beach vacations also. Suffice it to say that we have been back to Carolina Beach each year since except 2005 and have made certain that we went to the Deckhouse at least once during our week long stay. The food has always been outstanding and the service very good to excellent. If the restaurant had an oceanview, they'd never get me out of the place!!

The Deck House was a fun place to eat for the whole family. In the middle of the restaurant there was a giant Sail to go go along with the other nautical decorations, plus it is located in an old church. We stayed across the street at the Marriott so it was an easy walk. They have a great selection of seafood and steaks and every entree we ordered was great. We will be back!

We stayed in Kure Beach for a week and tried many different places to eat; kid friendly (ages 5 and 10), great non-smoking atmosphere (did not need a shower after) and the food was cooked very "cleanly"; not greasy or too heavily breaded! Fresh and fantastic! WE are DEFINITELY going back!

Well just got in from Deck House and the experience was so bad that I had to get on the internet and let everyone know how bad our first, and last experience was. I have lived in Wilmington/Carolina Beach area for over 6 years now, my fiancé, her entire life and had a chance to go to Deck House for a birthday dinner. Food was excellent however the service SUCKED....not the word to describe it but it was TERRIBLE. You could get better service at the Waffle House at 2am in the morning. We all ordered our food and after a good bit of time our food arrived, without one dish. No problem....because, hey, mistakes happen and we know this. 5 minutes past......10 min......20min....and still no food. By this time everyone at the table had finished and the waitress comes running out with her food. Since everyone was done and ready to pay she did not want her food......UNDERSTANDABLE!! Nicely…our friend said that she did not want the dish now since everyone was done and ready to go. The waitress turned around and was pissed because our friend would not take the dinner. After that she disappeared and we all needed extra refills, some wanted dessert and lastly our check. The waitress abandoned our table and we had to grab another waitress which printed off our check. There were 7 of us in the party and she still added gratuity…18%. Over the whole table this waitress was going to get $25.00 off of us for doing NOTHING and she still was MIA. All of us went ahead and paid it so we would not make a scene. 3 of us had credit cards, 2 paid cash, no change needed and after about 15 min. she came back to get our cards after I had to get up to find the other waitress. She came back to the table with the 3 cards and threw all of the bills in front of me with 3 pens and walked off. All of us were so in shock over our experience we were just sitting there in a daze!! We got up and on the way out we went over to the bar where a manager stood. We told her everything that happened and how she just up and left our table and the whole story. Her reply was, "I am sorry about that, I will have to have a talk with her but please come back." We told her that we paid the gratuity but she did not deserve a dime of it!! Just thought I would share my experience and if you are ever in the Carolina Beach area....stop at the local McDonald's or Hardee's where your service will be better and the manager will be more caring about your dining experience!!
