Went for breakfast this morning and had a horrible experience. 45 + minute wait time, and when our order finally came it was a tasteless oily omelette. The girl who took our order never told us where to get our OJ from and forgot about my coffee altogether. Bland food and horrible service. Will never go again.

Visiting from Tampa Bay, Amy's Place was such a nice, quaint restaurant. We ate breakfast there a couple mornings and when ever we return to Providence we’ll plan to stop by again. Excellent food great price, thanks Ben and Amy!

I had the best breakfast in Providence the other day!!!!!!! The staff and service are great and the coffee is better than that stuffy place across the street! The French Toast is the best I have had!!

I went some time after noon to have breakfast. I had my laptop because I needed to work on a project. I ordered an omelet and a cup of coffee. After that, I had another cup of coffee and ordered a smoothee. Finally, I had one more cup of coffee. Everything was delicious by the way and the woman at the counter was particularly friendly. Around 1:30, an older woman (perhaps the owner's mother?) approached my table and asked me if I was 'done'. When I replied yes, she said 'good, because we need this table.' She went on to explain that it would be ok on another day, but it was busy. At that point, the restaurant was barely half full and I tried to explain that when I came in, this was the only table available. She either didn't hear me or didn't care to hear me as she just turned and walked away. I was extremely embarrassed as many of the tables overheard and were now staring.
I would have gladly moved to a smaller table or to the stools by the window, but I no longer felt welcome at that point. I know that I would want this feedback if I owned a restaurant. Especially with direct competition within a few steps.

We live around the corner but had never went to Amy's Place. One morning, we woke up MUCH earlier than we usually do, so we called Amy's and ordered blueberry and buttermilk pancakes with breakfast potatoes for pick-up. Once there, we were greated right away with kind conversation. Our order was ready, we didn't have to wait and they had a GREAT selection of teas. We thought the food was Wonderful and the potatoes were AMAZING!!!!! We were very happy! However, the following day, we woke up early just to have that same breakfast, and Amy's wouldn't answer the phone. We walked over anyways, to find that she was not opened when suppose to be. We went and got breakfast down the road which was not comparable to Amy's (it sucked) and as we walked back home we saw Amy opening the restaurant 20 minutes late. She explained her late morning was due to her children and traffic. She lost our business that morning, but we weren't mad... it just showed that she is down to earth and runs around to make ends meet... just like the rest of us!!! We love Amy's and it's worth the wait if it's not always as fast as You want it to be!!!!

review_stars 02/02/2009 - Poor service and bad food.
The service was extremely poor and the food was bad. We will not go here again! ( We found a vacant table right away but waited 45 minute to get our breakfast- and it went downhill from there.)

Bad service. We stood for 10 minutes waiting for somebody to clear the table and then finally did it ourselves. Food is very mediocre. Do not try their hot chocolate- it is neither hot not chocolaty. Will not go there again

I agree with the last review, the coffee is good, but it could be better. She learned her "skills" from the owner of Cafe Zog, do more than you can handle, and make it mediocre.

their admirable atmosphere and reputable coffee seem to delude people into thinking that their food is top-notch cuisiine. I had the pancakes, which were so-so, although a staple like this at any breakfast place should be a main attraction. I also had the scrambled eggs and bacon plate. Eggs were too mundane to comment on, and the bacon was the lamest part of the meal, clearly the pre-cooked version heated up on their one-man skillet. It's endearing to use the system of cooking they've got set up, but to be realistic, they should only serve what they can handle cooking correctly.

Gotta try Amy's Place, it is truely delicious. My favorite at Amy's is the smoothies. But, I gotta be honest - the thing that caught my attention to Amy's was the ad in the Providence Journal. How cute is she?

This cafe rocks. I think they might have the best omelets I have ever eaten! By far the best coffee on the east side of Providence and the staff and the owner treat you like a king. I suggest the smoothies becausethey are well made with all fresh ingrediants and juices. A perfect 10!!

Amy's place is a cozy little cafe on wickenden st. She makes the best chai (hot or iced), and the smoothies are great. I've been for breakfast on a number of occasions and you get a ton of food for the $$$.
