Went to Barb's with a gift card purchased through the Restaurant of the Week on WTIC. The manager sounded so enthusiastic on the radio. Was appalled at the indifference exhibited by the young female front staff and wait staff. Waited 45 minutes for appetizers that never appeared. No one ever came over to explain a problem or back up in the kitchen. Asked for our check for the two glasses of wine we had and miraculously the appetizers were going to be out shortly. We said no thanks and walked out the door>

Great food, great service, and an awesome lunch special! Always have a good meal, even if it's not pizza. And we have never had issues with the staff. It's perfect for a special night out (the prices are a little high for everyday eating).

Pizza used to be top notch, is still very good. But everyone is right about the girls up front. They aren't rude but they aren't very friendly either. But they've been that way for years. I go there when I want a special pizza.

food is close to five stars but the immature and arrogant "ladies" in the front make me think twice to pick up my pizza. If you can ignore the rudeness and "you are bothering me" attitude the pizza almost makes up for it other wise try Harry's. Are they the owners or just don't care????

I see people complaining about the pie, my question is. Then WHO has good pizza in your mind still to this date.?.? peoples tastes are all different. Let me guess 10 years ago you probably also like McD's burgers no you can not stand them people change and so do flavors do instead of complaining explain who has good pie in your mind,, so stop your B*&^$# and man up on your choice for food.

Both of these people who reviewed this before me sound like angry, 40yo+ women, who seriously are some big a$$ b1tche5.

I ordered a large pepperoni pizza and there were no problems.

The staff wasn't a "platoon of [disrespectful] teenagers", and the girl who makes salads? She totally rocks.

Don't let these two fool you with their hatred of youth. Barb's is good. 'Nough said.

PS: I'm 23.

The pizza we had the other night would have been better if it weren't slightly overcooked. But I have to also say that I don't care for service from snotty teenagers who are about as friendly as a box of rocks. Whoever owns this place now (I guess it's not Barb anymore), I wished they'd unload the short, dark-haired girl who works the register and makes the salads. Either that or explain to her that it's ok to be friendly and pleasant when interacting with paying customers whose business you want to keep receiving.

We all know the story: Barb & Harry used to work @ Pepe's in their youth, eventually opened up Harry's in West Hartford...who's pizza has a curiously similar look & feel to Pepe's. Everything was bliss until, uh-oh, Barb & Harry got divorced. Barb, ended up w/ Harry's, & also opened up Barb's Pizza in a true entrepreneurial spirit to then franchise it out. Apparently Barb cashed out & sold Barb's, & sadly, it's BEEN ALL DOWN HILL SINCE!!
I used to be a big fan of Barb's pizza, b/c taste-wise, it was nearly identical to Harry's pizza. My family & I had it the other night, & for the 2nd instance, it’s become horribly disappointing. Crust seems undercooked, & the pie itself lacked flavor. Here's a twist to the downward spiral: For 10+ years, I'd ask for "a little extra tomato sauce" to offset the somewhat salty slant on Harry's/Barb's pepperoni pie offering, & Barb's now charges $2.50 for this - - for the extra ladle of canned tomatoes. I politely questioned this new practice, & was met w/ indifference w/ the platoon of teenagers running the West Hartford store. Barb's just lost a long-time customer, who's family eats a lot of pizza.
