I've read a lot of reviews about this place, especially saying that the service is slow and the employees seemed stoned. I can imagine that easily being true in Burlington, but I just went to VSC for the first time today and I had a wonderful experience. I even told the girl it was my first time, and while she didn't know the menu well enough to make a suggestion based on me wanting roast beef, she was patient as I figured it out. I ended up getting the JR and it was delicious. Took a while to make it, but well worth it in my opinion. Far superior flavors to fast food chains. I even liked the interior, which many people didn't like either. I think the hole-in-wall aesthetic matches its setting.

I am 39 years old and tasted many subs,Today i was dying for a sub and was told the sandwich company in wiliston vt had good subs.I travel 43 miles one way to work and was very hungry,i asked arround and it was 50/50 on reviews so i thought i would try it.I went after work and ordered 2 subs, one for me and one for my wife. When i got home me and my wife sat down to eat our subs,we both looked and each other and
said? The grinder place close to home(**********) makes way more better subs than this,i was not impressed at all.If any of you would like to know a sandwich shop that is close by you within 42 miles feel free to contact me,i will be more than glad to tell you plenty of places that beat the sandwich shop.my email is carrfcsojail@gmail.com

Not all Vermont Sandwich Companies are the same. They are all owned and operated by individual owners. The one on Dorset Street is very clean and has great service.

Always a happy staff and decent prices. But not really a place to sit and eat.

the service at this store is great, i love that the people working will remember what i order because i get the same thing every time!! i absolutely love the jolly gobbler!! i do wish the owner would put some money into things like the floor and new tables, this would make this sandwich shop pop!!

Love the J.R. sandwich. I have been eating here for years and just love it. I do wish they trained the staff to be a tad quicker. Been around awhile and they do know sandwiches. Sometimes sandwiches are different from store to store but the j.r. rules. Where is J.R. ?

i've had some not-so-great experiences with the vermont sandwich company in the past, but today absolutely tops them. the girl behind the counter was cranky and surly, and made the WORST sandwich i've ever had. she forgot the mayonnaise (the only condiment i ordered; thus, serving me a dry sandwich), and it was sloppily put together. two words: never again.

I've been eating at this place for almost ten years. The food is always awsome. The staff is sometimes slow but always makes me a great sandwich. I usually call ahead. The Doctor is the best sandwich ever. The store in Williston has really fast service and a new patio...way cool.
If you have been eating sandwiches at Subway, Quizno's, Blimpie etc... You will be amazed at this place. It is simply 10x better than any of those places. VTSC is where the locals go to eat sandwiches.

To those reviewers who got good service from the girls...really??? They always mess up my order and I recently went to the one in the Blue Mall, and it was like a different planet.

I would like to point out, though, that my male friend got a well-made sandwich (sandwich maker=female) and that my order gave me stomach problems.

man i love this place!! i come in at least once a week!! the staff is awesome!! especially the girls, if i get a sandwich and want to eat it at the sandwich place, they even bring it to me!! waitstaff that doesnt require a tip!! the food is always amazing!! there is one girl there that has dreads that is soooo nice, she knows exactly what i get and i dont even have to tell her!! this is such amazing service, i dont even get one of the special sandwiches, i always make up my own and she will remember exactly how i like it!!
i give this place my two thumbs up!!

i love the store in burlington, the staff is wonderful, but the store in williston is another story, there is a guy who works the early shift, maybe hes the manager, he just looks dirty, his hair is always greasy and they play horrible music. sometimes i want to call in my sandwich order early so i wont forget and the phone will just ring and ring, the store is suppose to be open but no one ever answers the phone.
when i call the burlington store to place an order ive never had to let the phone ring more then 3 times and the nice girls answer!! so i would say go to the burlington location not the williston one

KS, I couldn't agree more with you. The location on Winooski Ave. is absolutely repulsive. 9 times out of 10 they are out of most breads when I come in. The heavy set girl with the dreads always talks down to me and doesn't make me feel welcome and the overall product and service is effected by this. The location on Dorset Street in South Burlington in the Blue Mall is absolutely amazing. The employees are always soooo welcoming and the quality of the food is impeccable. Maybe the prices are a little on the high side but I am more then willing to pay the money for the service, the environment, and the quality of food offered at this location. There is a gentleman who works there who is on the shorter side, a little scruffy and heavy set but one of the nicest staff members of any restaurant that I've visited. Always laughing smiling and making me feel welcome. Truly makes it a wonderful experience to come to the Dorset Street location.

Maybe if this particular store hired motivated staff not like the completely stoned staff they have now it might be all right. Every sandwich I have ever gotten from this establishment has been thrown together and sloppy. Today I ordered the thanksgivingy sandwich, I bought it for 10 dollars with a small cup of soup brought it home and was ready to enjoy. I open it to find that what I had got was a stuffing sandwich "would say about 2 cups, maybe more" with a hint of turkey and cranberry between two pieces of burnt bread. I took off most of the stuffing and still had a stuffing sandwich and enough stuffing on my plate to feed another or two. I dont understand why this place get such high reviews it's overpriced, overrated, and it just doesn't live up. The employees are usually rude because they are to busy listening to Phish to bother with your order or even to put time into making your sandwich. I suggest staying away from this place unless you want a sloppy overpriced sandwich made buy someone who looks like they have bugs in there hair....

Try the other Vermont Sandwich Company stores--especially the one on Dorset Street (located in The Blue Mall) South Burlington. They are all individually owned so each store is very different. I'm sorry to hear about your experience at the Burlington store, but you won't find that at the Dorset Street store. It's very clean, the staff is very pleasant, and the food is great.

Good food, great value. Try the Patriot sandwich - turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce - thanksgiving diner between 2 slices of bread.
