I went to this place on the recommendation of a friend. Being from the east, I was really excited about getting a real sub. What a disappointment!!! Granted, the place has cool east coast stuff everywhere but it's covered with grease and dirt. Not a good sign. The server was pretty friendly and somewhat arrogant. Ordered the Broad street Bully (the #1 most popular sub), the eggplant parm and some fries. The owner claims that his grandmother started the business back east and they moved it to Tucson ten years ago. If that's true, it's probably because the food they served us wouldn't make it back east. To say it was lousy would be a compliment. A little tip to the owner: loading up a cheese steak with hot peppers won't cover up the flavor of low quality meat which has been overcooked. The eggplant parm was swimming in tomato sauce that had chunks of ground beef in it. My vegetarian friend was not happy. The fries, although plentiful, tasted like they were cooked in oil that could have been from Grandma's original fryer.
When the server checked on us, we told her we didn't think the food was very good. Instead of offering any sort of apology, she told us that they don't get many complaints. Maybe that's because we were the only customers in the place at noon.
As we drove away, my friend and I decided they might be having an off day and we would give this place another try in the future, but we changed our mind when each of us became ill later that night.
Won't ever go back there again.
The only thing that authentic about East Coast Super Subs is their attitude.
