While Roberts generally has great food, our recent experience should caution everyone thinking about placing advance orders, particularly for the holidays. More disturbing is the lack of response by ownership and management to even acknowledge their error.

We called Roberts’ the week before Thanksgiving to inquire as to whether they would have ribs available for the holiday. I was advised that because of the high demand we needed to place an order, which we did. We were told we didn't need to pre-pay at which time I specifically stated we would be picking them up the day before Thanksgiving on our way out-of-town, asking they be appropriately packaged for the trip and reheating instructions for Thursday.

When my wife arrived for pick-up, the woman working at Roberts’ advised "our order was overlooked" and that there were none available. Inexplicably, she suggested instead of getting the ribs we ordered, we could purchase a turkey. Wow. Moreover, she offered no apology and no explanation how she could have filled every single order but ours as it appeared all the order forms were attached to the respective orders.

Given that we were in the process of leaving town, we were left no alternative to go elsewhere. To add insult to injury, we asked the incompetent employee to have a manager call to hopefully offer some explanation. To date, I have never received a response now two weeks later.

Roberts is likely the best butcher shop in South Tampa with excellent customer service and quality meats. This said, it does not make up for spending $9 on a hamburger. Sorry, Roberts... just not worth it. Especially considering that there are better burgers at the Green Iguana right up the street (which currently has $5 burgers w/fries on Mondays!)

This place has fantastic prime rib and grouper sandwiches. Understand you go in order at the counter, it is not a sit down restaurant, although tables are available. The people are very friendly and the fish is very fresh.
