Review: I have never eaten New Mexican food before so I was excited to try the chile relleno that my husband has been telling me so much about (he is from NM). First when the chips and salsa came out, my heart sank. The chips were the white strips that are obviously mass produced in a factory before being lovingly scooped out by hand from a jumbo bag the owner clearly purchased at costco. The salsa tasted old, like it had been served out of jar off a grocery shelf that had been sitting in my fridge for a week. I don't know about you, but when I eat at a restaurant, I expect fresh food made from fresh ingredients, not something whipped up from last week's grocery shopping. If I wanted that, I wouldn't leave home. Next came the main course. What a treat. Canned beans and bouillon flavored rice with a little pile of chopped strips of romaine hearts and tomato for color. One trip to costco later, this man opened a restaurant. The chile relleno looked like it had been frozen and microwaved. The breading was soggy, the edges had that unmistakable microwave halo all the way around and the stuff inside was half cheese, half some kind of fake cheese sauce. So all around it was a rather disgusting unappetizing mess. Very disappointing for someone who budgets carefully and plans to eat out as a special treat once a month. If I had the option of giving this place 0 stars, I would. I recommend that if you are looking for a decent meal or even just a mediocre one, this is not the place.

Review: I moved to Portland from NM 6 months ago and have been craving some green and red. This place claims to serve NM cuisine so I was excitèd. I left completely disgusted. For one, my Carne adovada wasn't served hot, but lukewarm. It tasted like something out of a can, and I didn't taste a hint of the NM red Chile that I love. And my wife's Chile rellenos? Gross, cold, and bland. Don't do it folks! There are too many wonderful places to eat in this town. I will continue my search for authentic nm cuisine in pdx.

Review: This place has been in Sellwood a while now, its a small friendly place to have some Tex-Mex food tasting meals. The staff are friendly. I personally do not like Cilantro and this is one of their main ingredients. Their food is great and I recommend it.

Review: I grew up in New Mexico, lived there from when I was three to in my 20s. When I moved away, I was always unhappy with the Mexican food I tried. Even when it was good, it never tasted quite like what I expected. This place serves authentic NEW Mexican food, not to be confused with the authentic food of central or coastal Mexico or with Tex Mex. Delicious!
