Very impressed with the new menu and the service was outstanding. Clam chowder was definitely New England style one of the best I've had in a long time. If you're looking for a casual restaurant on the waterfront, I definitely recommend this spot. We were impressed.

Unfortunately I read the wrong reviews before we drove an hour to get to Hanson's Pub. DON'T BOTHER!!
We were a party of 4, we ordered 2 appetizers and salads with our meals. Finally after 35 minutes salads came out but there were only 2,they were served on a plate the size of a tea cup saucer and barely covered the plate, we asked where the other 2 salads were and the waitress was confused, she said I guess they aren't ready yet! We asked where the appetizers were and she said they are working on them, after an hour the appetizers came out, we got the fried calamari and the fish bites, both were good but small orders (for the price). We then waited another 25 minutes for our meals,
the coleslaw and pasta salad were horrible, my husbands shrimp and angel hair pasta came with only 3 tiny cocktail shrimp on it and a children's portion of angel hair pasta (for $18), the broiled scallops ($19 and not the 1/2 pound as listed on the menu) were soaking in a pool of butter and were overcooked to the point of being chewy and tough. The waitress brought out our check before offering us dessert (we were all still hungry), my friend asked what they offered for dessert and the waitress said we don't have dessert, she took the check and the money and walked away. Like I said don't bother, slow service, lousy food, and small portions, not worth your time or money.

If you're looking for an outdoor waterfront atmosphere that is picturesque and exudes "Perfect RI"- than this is the place! Unfortunately, the view is all that they have going for them and they rely on this. The food is sad. Thrown together by "hired summer staff", you can tell that they don't take any pride in their ingredients. I would be wary of ordering even the most basic of things like the chowder which is not even close to the local standard of any fast food chowder but rather a potato stew with no clams whatsoever. I would never eat food there and waste my money again.

We opt'ed to eat in the "Pub" without being informed that the full menu is not available to you. After rearranging tables to fit our party it was awkward to ask to be re-seated. What would be the big deal about bringing food from the upstairs menu to the "pub" area? We were told it couldn't be done. From the radio adds no one would get the impression that there are different menus. We are year round residents, we won't be back!

I am sad to say that since the girl overseeing operations Laura left this place has spiraled downward. We used to go there once or twice a week and the food was usually good the staf was always nice but things have changed RADICALLY. We went on Sunday afternoon at 2 PM and the placed was closed. We stopped by again on Monday at 4 pm and was still closed. It is not even Labor Day yet and they have gone what appearrs to be WINTER HOURS

How could a place with such a location be so bad with it's customer service? Well, I'll tell you. Our reserved table was 30 minutes late, we were charged for drinks we ordered but never received as well as a soup, the bill took 15 minutes to get to the table, no waters, out of a few kinds of beer on a Saturday, out of prime rib, there were only 4 or 5 tables being occupied and they were having the same problems...
A nice night out for dinner turned into a very stressful evening with everyone in our party leaving upset.
To try and totally not be negative, I thought the food was pretty good, and our waitress tried hard and was polite, but I've never been to a place that was such a disaster with customer service. I can't see this place being around for much longer if tonight was any indication of how this place operates on a normal basis. Right now it is going on location alone.
It is too bad, because with the location and food, I would have liked to return, but I can't ever see myself returning with that sever level of mis-management
