We are so quick to write negative reviews, but always forget to get those positive ones up there. My wife and I dined here during Newport Restaurant week and were pleasantly surprised. I ordered off of the restaurant week menu and was impressed to say the least. The caprese salad was perfect in taste, prep, and size. The steak Chiazza though was out of this world. My wife loved her raspberry and goat cheese salad. You have made a customer for life.

Some friends blew into town this weekend and my fridge was unprepared to accommodate them, so I took them to Chiazza as it's just around the corner. We managed to beat the rush by about thirty minutes. We ordered the shrimp pesto pizza for a starter, and it was a pleasant surprise. The pesto was just right and the extra crunch from the fried onions were a perfect textural balance. For entrees we went with the bone in pork chop special, the sea bass and the lobster macaroni and cheese. The lobster mac was overflowing with chunks of lobster, a sweet balance to the nutty flavor of Gouda cheese. My friend's wife loved the sea bass, raving about the risotto underneath. I had the pork chops, and the cranberry and madeira wine demi glaze were tart and sweet, but not too sweet. I'll be back soon.

Chiazza's menu look fabulous and the prices were quite fair. However the food fell short of what was promised. The BRUSCHETTA was nothing more than five nice slices of Italian style ciabatta bread, untoasted, with a slice of mozzarella piled high with diced tomatoes and a balsamic reduction drizzle on the plate. While this is exactly what the menu states there are so many tomatoes that the bread becomes soggy and hard to eat. The Tuna Ceviche was quite good but it wasn't a ceviche, there was very little citrus flavor, no acidity, and no heat it was also very strongly flavored with Soy Sauce. I enjoyed it but it wasn't what I expected. We had the RASPBERRY & GOAT CHEESE salad which was also fairly good it just suffered from poor execution. The salad was very large great for a lunch menu but to big for a dinner course. The raspberry salad dressing was very nice, well balanced but there was to little of it. The salad hadn't been dressed there was just a little dressing poured over the greens after they were in the bowl. Two few glazed walnuts and to much goat cheese made the salad good but it could have been much better if properly executed. The entree's were the biggest disappointment my wife PISTACHIO ENCRUSTED HADDOCK tasted fine except for the coating of a floury powder that covered the fish. It may have been pistachio powder but it definitely wasn't encrusted and my CHILEAN SEA BASS was unlike any Chilean Sea Bass I've ever eaten. Again it tasted pretty good but it tasted more like halibut rather than Chilean Sea Bass and the risotto was poorly seasoned (I needed to add salt to find any flavor at all) and there were no tomatoes or asparagus as promised in the menu one lone shrimp made it a shrimp risotto but you couldn't taste the shrimp in the rice at all. Thee risotto was very smooth but it didn't have the creamy consistency that makes a good risotto so special. All in all the meal was enjoyable but it could have been much better if the dishes were properly executed or if we didn't know how the food was supposed to taste. For the price it could have been much better. To put things into perspective Olive Garden is much better.

My husband and I dined at Chiazza recently and loved it! The menu is full of options taste wise and wallet wise. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent, the butternut squash ravioli I had was to die for. My husband enjoyed the seafood zuppa which was fresh and filling. Our experience overall was most enjoyable and we will definitely be back soon!

Food and atmosphere were great. I had the sirloin steak with side of mac and cheese cooked perfectly and the make and cheese had a great crispy topping from being baked in the wood oven. My Wife had the shrimp pesto penne and the taste was perfect. The pesto is made fresh daily as we were told by our friendly and attentive waiter. To finish a perfect meal we had shared a piece of there amazing tiramisu which is also made by there on site baker.
I can't forget to mention the bread and dipping oil they serve they should bottle and sell to public. Will be back with friends .

I would take the star back if I could. We dropped in with the kids so that we might enjoy something a bit nicer than the Newport Creamery. I will say that they brought the wine pretty quickly and checked back often to see if we wanted to buy any more overpriced room temperature Pinot Grigio. In all fairness, they also brought the kids food quickly-wich can be nice-get them going so that you can enjoy your meal when it arrives. Ah yes, when the salads arrived. When was that...45 min latter? Burned chicken on poorly dried limp greens with the most lackluster ceaser dressing I have tasted since my grandmother dubbed herself a gourmet. The parmesean cheese may have been leftover from the renovation. $100 latter I am quite certain of my dinner plans for next week. Almost forgot, it wasn't even busy...hmm I wonder why?
