Reviews of New Yorker Deli & Restaurant

All my life since the owner open and moved further up. I am SO disappointed now. I can tell that the people running it have change things. Subs are terrible. No Meat! Sub buns cheap now. Serve cold. I rather pay MORE FOR GOOD FOOD THEN SERVE CHEAP.

I lived in Roanoke 29 years (leaving in 98) and ate at the New Yorker an average of about once every other week. I thought it was delicious then, but after moving to Salisbury, NC, I really have nightmares about that place. I try to get up there 3 or 4 times a year. I miss those Torpedoes (with peppers), Hot German Potatoe
Salad (to die for) and the beans and franks. The service is top shelf and if you like Kosher food, the smell as you go in will put you in heaven, ha! Best little restaurant in Roanoke, as far as what they serve. I've never found that taste anywhere else, and it always stays the same.

Yes, cash only, but sad the only other reviewer here gave it a one star rating based on that alone! NY is our go-to restaurant. Get the Italian sub and blueberry cheesecake. Both made fresh THERE by hand! There are other things, and if you want cold cuts, or potato salad, or whatever, you can get that here too. It's still got it's original 70s decor, and it's a bit of a throwback, but it's a Roanoke staple that is always busy, always delicious.

I called to get a price on a cheesecake to go. I sent someone to get it the next day. When I called the person answering the phone did not mention that the restaurant was "cash only. They only found out after waiting in line for about 15 minutes and they did not have the cash to purchase. It would have been nice to mention it when the inquire was made. Poor
