Reviews of Yum Yum Kitchen

On the cold winter night, my friends and I found ourselves craving for some hot pot, so we went there for the hot pot buffet. The waiter walked us to our table without mention the so-called “policy” they have there. Plus, they have neither sign nor warning anywhere about the extra fees for the leftover food if we don’t finish them all.
After finished our dinner, we were chit-chatting and there she came, the lady owner of the restaurant. She walked to our table and stared at the hot pot. Then, she pointed her finger to our faces and said: “you have to pay $10 for the leftover food”. We were surprised and gave each other the confused look.
She said that they have a policy where customers have to pay $1o penalty if they don’t finish all the food. It was written in Chinese on the bar where they displayed the food. We told her that when we came in, we were not notified about this policy they have by anyone or anything. She stared at us and said: “all American people can read Chinese and they know that, only ‘you Vietnamese people’ don’t know”. And yes, that’s exactly what she said, word for word.
Excuse me, lady! We are sorry for being Vietnamese whose live in America and do not read Chinese. Correct me if I am wrong! Since when does Chinese become a mandatory language that all American know how to read but us Vietnamese? This is extremely racist.
I, myself, have Chinese friends and they are friendly. I love them and I definitely have no prejudice or no grudge toward Chinese people or Chinese language. But, this lady is one of a kind: unreasonably outrageous.
