FOOD SAFETY MATTERS! Just want to give a heads up on an issue I had with this food establishment earlier this summer ('22). I visited on June 30 of this year, ordering a salad and their Fettuccine entree. Their Fettuccine is very good here, having ordered it a few times before. That night, I became progressively nauseous and unable to sleep. Having finally vomited at 3am, I was able to get back to sleep. I went back again two days later and ordered salad and pizza, I discreetly pulled the same waitress aside from the previous visit to alert her to the possibility of food issues with the cream sauce within the Fettuccine I had ordered days earlier. The manager was taking his cigarette break outside and overheard all this and had me walk over to talk to him. He refused to believe the possibility his Fettuccine was the cause of my condition, even though it was virtually the only thing outside of the salad I ate that day. Having worked in the restaurant business for nearly 15 years and having taken a Food Handlers Safety Course, I know the dangers that are potentially present, especially with certain food products containing seafood, poultry and dairy. Instead of hearing my concerns and alerted to the possibility, the manager simply blew me off, believing in the infallibility of his food protocols and employee practices. This was the only time I raised the issue of food safety with his imployees. I did it respectfully and discreetly, intentionally avoiding being overheard by other customers. As the operator of a food establishment, you ought to be ever diligent about food safety. While you need to get things right everytime, salmonella and E. coli need to get it right only once.
And before the manager responds with "I'm that guy....", let me step in first. Yeah, I'm that guy who objected once for being overcharged on a Takeout order. Yeah, I'm that guy who asked if I could get, or what the charge would be for getting my Club Salad tossed to better mix the dressing. Yeah, I'm that guy who was no longer interested in the salad I once ordered with dinner, only to have it delivered after I was nearly done with the entree as if it was dessert. This only goes to show that when you're nearly the only option in town, complacency, carelessness and indifference can easily set in. So, customer beware that while the food is usually good, management has no interest in any respectfully presented customer input. In their eye's, there's no need. When it comes down to food safety, however, and his disinterest in hearing about it, those at the local State Health Department were a bit more attentive and took notes.Yeah, once again "I'm that guy......
