We had coupons which read, "share your opinion and earn $2 off next purchase". It's no shame to admit we're on a tight budget, as most American families are, and we use coupons! The coupons did not indicate there was a minimum amount you must spend and certainly did not indicate, only one per family or one per entire part! On this particular evening, my wife gave the owner, Donna spell, her $2 coupon along with her cash. I was behind her and was going to purchase my meal and use my $2 coupon. As my wife pays for her meal, the owner tells my wife, in a very loud voice, which was clearly meant for the benefit of all the customers in line behind us, "this coupon is only one per family and I want you to know that I had to change my coupons because of you two!" She went on, "I'll take it this time, but I changed my coupon because of you!" My wife was so embarrassed, she didn't know what to say! It was my turn to pay and the owner then said to me, also in a loud tone, "give me your coupon but I changed my coupons so you can't steal from me anymore!" I was so shocked and embarrassed because all the people behind me could hear everything she was saying! I said, excuse me?! Why are you accusing me of stealing for using a coupon that you gave me to begin?! I was mortified this lady was accusing my wife and I of stealing, in front of several customers! I told her to not worry about the coupon and I would pay full price, but she just kept going on "well you're stealing!" I had heard enough, so I told her she was out of line and had just lost a loyal customer! To this she replied, "that's good cause your stealing from me anyway!" My wife almost cried she was so embarrassed and as we walked away from the bar, I could see people staring at us because of what Donna was saying! I could feel my gut wrenching from this humiliating experience. Needless to say, both our appetites were ruined and we left without eating our food. My wife and I took our food back to the owner and told her to keep her food! I also told her she was shameful for treating us like that, accusing us of stealing!? She replied, "shame on you for stealing from me and take off that cross your wearing, you're shameful wearing it!" Never in my life have I been so humiliated! To be accused of stealing in a full restaurant! I served in the military for 10 years and I’m a decorated combat veteran! For the past 15 years I've been a Law Enforcement Officer, placing my life on the line daily, for the benefit of people like this pompous, self righteous, Donna Spell. How dare her judge me and tell me to take my cross off! A true Christian would have never denied Christ to anyone! She had no right to treat me or my wife this way! She could easily enough just said she was going to honor these coupons any more.
