I have never written a bad review for anything until now. I am utterly disgusted with how my family were treated during lunch today. It was slightly crowded so I dropped my sister off in front to grab a table. She was told that it’s self seating. When I walked in I was helping another visitor (a stranger by the way) try to find her phone. Her husband was in the back where there were a few tables. One was empty and I thought, “perfect!” My son sat at the table and we were able to get 3 chairs. There were 4 in our party but I was completely fine standing. While waiting in line to order food I checked on my children and saw that one of the chairs were removed. I asked the woman I had helped earlier if she knew what happened to it. She did not. A staff member came over and started YELLING at me that she moved the chair to another table because that family already ordered their food. I was very polite and explained that my sister has a foot injury and needed to sit and that was why I pulled the extra chair over and that was before that family even sat down. The other family confirmed that we already had the chair at our table. She continued to yell at me. The gentleman stated it was completely ok for us to utilize the chair. The staff member continued to YELL no! Another couple interjected and then she started yelling at her as well. We had already worked out the chair situation but she kept yelling at all of us (three separate families, all paying customers). I completed my food order and proceeded to the register to pay. The same staff person completely ignored me and took payment from someone who walked up behind me. She then snatched my order. I asked if they gave a military discount and she snapped, “NO!” So much for small town values. My husband died serving our country by the way. We went back to our table. One of the families who she had yelled at decided to take their food to go because they were appalled at the way they were treated. It was then just me and my children (my sister was so disgusted she chose to eat outside). The staff member then turned the lights out in the dining room. Both my family and the other family were in shock at how poorly we were being treated. Many customers that placed their “to go” orders were served before us. She LOUDLY told her co-worker that she refused to bring us our food. We were nothing but calm and polite the entire time. I would have gladly further supported this small business and purchased some novelties if we were not treated so badly. It was disgraceful! The woman who works there should be ashamed of herself.

I'm a local, I just went in to buy some roast beef and swiss cheese. Well they wouldn't sell it to me. I guess they wanted to keep it for the tourist. They'll make more money like that. So if you're a local to southern Rockbridge County I wouldn't even bother going in there. 2 hours before they close and they wouldn't sell me a half a pound roast beef. I bet they would sell it to me if it was the middle of winter. So they get my one-star rating because it didn't get any lower. Do what you want but in my book it ain't worth even stopping.
