The food and management at this restaurant were equally awful. My friend ordered ravoli stuffed with lobster which was served cold. So crappie was my dinner I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT I HAD! I left it uneaten. Server never came by during dinner to check on us. Shelly, the manager that evening, was extremely rude. When we voiced our complaints to her upon exit, she stated that we were asked how dinner was and we said fine, an out-and-out lie. A truly repugnant experience.

Food was GREAT! Cooked to perfection. Service by Brandy was above and beyond the norm...We definitely have a new "favorite restaurant".

I love Michael's for their service, ambiance and variety of food choices. Since I work on the island, I go to lunch there often and I'm a major tuna salad lover. I was disappointed with their uninspired rendition. I expected a more deli-style tuna salad with small bits of celery, dill, pickle, etc., but it was just chunk tuna mixed with mayonnaise. I could do that at home. Come on Chef... show us what you've got (even in the smallest dishes).

We called months in advance to reserve the outside sitting area for our reception of 26 people. It was discussed several times this was a private occasion leading up to the event. When we all got there, the area was open to the public. The tables were set in a manner that we all could not sit together and were crammed. We had to request they be set up in a manner where we would at least all sit together in the same general area. When it was asked again at the restaurant why it was still open to the public, the management was very unapologetic about their mess up. After that, they decided it was appropriate to extort and EXTRA $1,300 from us to "make it a private event" instead of trying to correct their mistake. Us bringing 26 people, allowing them to order whatever they wanted from the menu (meals, appetizers, beer, wine, desert etc.) wasn't enough for them. They wanted MORE money. Very disappointed they didn't want to right the wrong or accommodate us.
We WILL NOT BE PATRONIZING THEM ANYMORE. In addition to that we will steer our friends and family away from their establishment.

Food was horrible and tastless. Chowder was full of shells. Bland and soggy.

After searching the web for a restaurant on Pleasure Island that serves a steamed version of a shellfish platter, Michael's seemed to be my only choice. Most other restaurants fried their platters or charged more to steam or broil them. Michael's doesn't even have a fryer! So, all you health conscious folks, dig in! I ordered the Captain's Catch (a mini version of the Admiral's) and was also very pleased. I was stuffed by the end of my meal. I had ordered a cup of the chowder which is a must since it is award-winning and extremely delicious. Since the seafood outweighed the potatoes and other vegetables I was thrilled with my choice. In the Captain's Catch I received 3 oysters, 3 clams, 3 mussells, 6 or so large shrimp, 4 crab legs (including a claw), half a corn cob, cole slaw, and a heaping of delicious red smashed potatoes. As is mentioned on the menu, I asked for some corn bread for my meal and was wide-eyed when I saw strands of honey as I pulled apart a piece. Scrumptious! Our waitress, Jennifer, was a treat - timely, sweet, and catered well to our needs without being overbearing. Since my non-seafood eating daughter accompanied me on our dinner, she ordered the Asian-style chicken salad. I think there was more chicken than lettuce in her salad - an unexpected treat. She also enjoyed her salad. We ate on the outdoor patio which boasted a more casual environment as we were joined by guests in casual shorts and t-shirts. The pond and landscaping outside the screened-in patio offered a relaxing environment as we listened to the flowing water. My only complaint is that if you are toting along a non-seafood eating companion, the selections are few for the dinner menu. But, then again, the restaurant IS called Michael's SEAFOOD! I will come back and find someone to help me with the Admiral's platter next time. I almost joined the table across from me as I saw a couple digging in to their table-encompassing meal! Wow - thanks, Michael's!

I really had higher hopes for this restaurant. I read the reviews before going and really wanted to add a positive one. We are from the west coast and love seafood. This restaurant was recommended to us by our neighbor in Kure Beach.
The place was very busy for a Monday night. I guess there were a lot of out of towners. We arrived at 6 and were seated by 6:30pm. Faster than promised. Our order was taken by a great waitress. Her service was excellent even though she was helping a party of 14.
I was dissapointed in the quality of my lobster dish. I ordered the 1 1/2 lb lobster. It wasn't worth $29. The tail was baked and smallish. It wasn't as fresh as I like. They advertise it as Maine Lobster but it may not have been live. I did taste my son's Clam Chowder and it was the best I've ever had. There were chunks of crab that was a nice surprise. My wife also ordered the lobster and like it, but didn't think it was worth the price.
I probably won't come back. Mainly because of the price. If the quality of the food was better, I might think twice.

Don't go here! My family went here last week while on vacation. They said the crab leg's are a pound and a half, I got 8 fingers and my boyfriend was supposed to get a pound and a half of shrimp and got 12 small shrimp. When we asked if this was a pound and a half (which we knew was not) he said we weigh them before we cook them. I don't care if you weighed them now or whatever, their was no way. It was over priced, I got the craps the next day, think it was food posioning. Just avoid! LOL Over priced lies.
