They are celebrating our 10th Anniversary! Fred Shambora and Barbara Gargan opened the doors to Freddie's in 1995. Freddie's serves authentic Italian cuisine in an Irish pub atmoshphere. You'll hear Al Martino crooning in the background. There's a small friendly bar serving the best martinis in the area. Think about how true tomato meat or marinara sauce should taste, one that has been simmered for eight hours... this is what theirs is! The melt-in-your-mouth lasagna features fine layers of fresh pasta enveloped with a bolognese tomato sauce and ricotta cheese, topped with a blanket of melted mozzarella. Freddie's has become known as the best 'pork chop restaurant' serving up truly mouth-watering chop creations. Freddie's special chop is a huge center cut chop, grilled to perfection then demi-glazed in a wonderful original balsamic reduction. It is served with cherry peppers and sided with ramekins of balsamic sauce and apple sauce. Freddie's offers a wide variety of Italian/ American cuisine choices with moderately priced entrees. In an area which is not blessed with true Italian/American cuisine, Freddie's is a MUST!

I took my date there. Had excellent and curtious service. The salad was awesome that came before the meal. The entrees were largea and very good. I highly recommend it. You might want to make a reservation on Thursdays as that is their thinck pork chop night. I did not have them but saw them and they were incredible.

I have had it both ways. Great and sorry. First time 2 years ago, the best pork chop I had ever had.
We lived locally and wished we had heard of it before. Then this past Summer we were back in the area and couldn't wait to revisit. Still the great atmosphere, cramped and homey, but bad service, over cooked pork chop, small salad, and no bread w/olive oil. We had to almost tackle a waiter to get him to bring us some. It eventually came about the same time as the overcooked dry chop. Oh boy!
My wife and I are teachers so meals at this price have to be special. It wasn't.

I had the same experience as Suzanne. We had a terrible experience at Freddies. The service was horrible! The waiter was extremely rude, inattentive, and concentrated more on the woman behind the cash register. We waited almost half an hour for our meal. When one of my friends wanted to send her dish back, the waiter (Adam), called the cops. We were amazed and none of us have EVER been treated like this at any restaurant. There was no manager on site that we could complain to. Our evening was ruined! I will NEVER again set foot in Freddie's EVER again! It's the absolute worst!!!

MAYBE YOU WERE EXPECTING GOOD MUCH IT'S NOT THE RITZ CARLTON BUT IT IS QUAINT, CHARMING THE SERVICE AS ALWAYS BEEN FRIENDLY AND ON TIME WITH FOOD MAYBE YOU WERE TALKING TOO MUCH. AS FAR AS THE FOOD GOES IT IS EXCELLENT IN EVERY WAY. I HAVE EATEN THERE SEVERAL TIMES AND WE ARE GOING BACK IN MAY FOR SEVERAL LUNCHES AND DINNERS. YOU GET WHAT YOU GIVE ! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FINE EATING PLACE. IT'S A LITTLE TIGHT SEATING BUT YOU CAN'T BEAT THE FOOD AND COZY ATMOSPHERE AND THE CARING SERVICE. WES WEST FALL

I ordered take out lasagna. After picking it up, we found the box containing the salad held about enough for one operson. We called to tell them we were coming back. They explained that it held enough for 4 people. Having ate there before, we knew that not to be true. They gave us another salad which made my stomach cramp immediately. I tried the entree which was lasangna and I was so disappointed. I have heard so many good things about Freddies and it must stem from people who have never left the island. I have had better lasangna out of a box and I am not kidding. $50 for two meals of half portion, less that freezer section lasagna is out rageous. This is from a local so please, don't waste your time. Overpriced tasteless food.

I had the worst experience ever at Freddies. I was with a group of women I dine with about once a month. We had reservations for December. The service we received was horrible. The waiter had a chip on his shoulder, was passive aggressive, inattentive, condescending and rude. This is not an understatement. Half our party was served, different waiter, while we waited over 20 minutes. When one lady sent dish back, the waiter..Adam, called the police. Unbelievable. There was no manager on site, and no one offered to address any problems. Needless to say our evening was ruined. I don't understand how Freddies owners can allow staff to treat customers so poorly.

Vacationed at Kure Beach in 1996, and never forgot the best pork chop ever from Freddie's Restaurante. Finally got to go back this summer and was as good as I remembered. This time though was served the best Cosmopolitan I have ever had. By the way, I am over 50 and this truly is a memorable eating and drinking experience. If you are vacationing anywhere near there and love great food, you need to go.

What an amazing find! My large family group came here over 4th of July weekend this year. Our server was awesome and very patient. The Rum Runner Grilled Pork Chop was fantastic...perfectly done, sweet & slightly spicy sauce, with grilled peach slices. Not to mention that the stuffed portablello mushroom appetizer was so delicious and large enough for several of us to share. Thanks for a wonderful meal and great experience!

Hands down the best staff in the area serving the best food in the area. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Be sure to arrive early and have a drink at the bar, Josh is a fantastic bartender with loads of trivial knowledge and a flirtatious attitude. I love this place.

I love this place! A nice cozy atmostphere is perfect for a romantic evening or a small familyget together! The chicken Parm is phenominal! I buy their salad dressing regularly, there is nothing else like it! You must eat here!

I LOVE this place! It is my favorite place to eat, ever! And I love to eat. The food is awesome, from the lasagna to the seafood diablo to the HUGE chops. The staff is one of the best I've ever encountered. And if you have to wait, which you probable will, try to get a seat at the bar. Jeremy is the best bartender you'll find in the Wilmington area. GO! GO! GO!

I loved everything about this restaurant, from the hour wait sitting on a bench out front watching the world go by and listening to the ocean, to the food. It is excellent. I can't wait to come back. This is the kind of place I love to eat. Unique, good food, not a chain, fresh, homemade food - small and quaint - I can't say enough good things.
The whole experience reminded me of beach trips with my family when I was a child. It was wonderful!

Our forth year dinning at Freddies. Food, service, vakue and employees can only be rated as excellent. If you like pork chops, this is the place.

Just a fun place to spend an evening with firiends for a casual dinner. No rush, attentive wait staff and outstanding sour apple martinis. Have never been disappointed with the amount and taste of food. Enough to take home and have additional dinners the next day. Great pork chop selections.
Need reservations far in advance for a large party of 6.

Freddies is my favorite resturants I have ever eaten at. A real treet when I get to go to the Kure Beach area.

Having lived in the NJ/NY area, and coming from Northern Virginia - Freddie's has become our favorite restaurant of choice. The service and food is terrific. No only is the italian favorites wonderful but the pork chops are to die for..... During the winter months just to satisfy our cravings, we order online 'Barb's Dressing' and from time to time take a quick trip to Carolina Beach to eat at Freddie's.

I have eaten there several times as it is the best resturant on the island. It is crowded though. The wait staff is good as are the mixed drinks.

GO HUNGRY! The food is excellent, and there is a TON of it. They take reservations, but people tend to linger so your best bet is to go early. There are only a dozen or so tables, so it fills up fast.
This is a nice place to go and take your time, they don't rush you in and rush you out the door.
