Priddyboy's, founded by David W. Priddy, opened the doors to their first store in University Landing in Wilmington, NC in March of 1994. Prior to opening the first store, David had been working on the details of this concept for about two years; developing the menu, finding a location and perfecting the recipes. The year before the store opened, David was approached by a business associate, Thomas W. Haskins, with an idea to open a food franchise as partners. Tom knew that, with David's foodservice experience and his financial backing, they would make a good team. It was at this time that David sat down with Tom and revealed his plan to open a Priddyboy's Sandwich Grill. In December of 1993, the two formed a corporation and the first Priddyboy's Sandwich Grill opened and operated on a shoestring budget and plenty of sweat equity. David was not only the brainchild of the concept but also worked in the original store as manager, employee, baker, production crew, sandwich maker and whatever else was needed to get the job done. His hands-on experience allowed him to make improvements to the systems used in the Priddyboy's concept. From the start, Priddyboy's was not the average sandwich shop, their oversized portions along with their fresh ingredients, allowed them to develop a loyal customer base. Many of their customers started asking whether Priddyboy's was a franchise. As inquires increased, David made the decision to trademark the name and started to lay the ground work for the development of a full-fledged franchise system. Over the years, David established multiple corporate-owned stores in Wilmington and Raleigh, North Carolina. In February 2002, the first Priddyboy's franchise was sold, and they are continuing to develop franchises nationally and internationally.
