Tapas spirit is to eat by whim, free from rules or schedules. Tapas present a variety of tastes and textures that are complimentary to one another. They are served in small portions. They are meant for immediate gratification. They at Circa 1922 have tried to capture the sprirt of Tapas; fresh exquisitely presented and highly creative small plates. Circa 1922 hopes to have adopted the camaraderie, spontaneity, and good times that are so much a part of the tapas tradition in Spain. There is live music on the weekends.

I went to Circa lastnight with 2 girlfriends whom have been there alot. At first I was excited because I have never been. But the whole experience was terrible. And it wasn't just us other people were complaining also. I ordered shrimp and grits and what they gave me was like a appetizer portion, i ordered a dinner not a app. they didn't make our drinks properly either. The waiter proceeded to argue with us about our drinks. they have these hybiscus margaritas that are like a margarita but are more sweet, well they tasted like a tradtional margarits and we sent them back twice still the bartenders couldn't make them properly. we were told that one of the bartenders normally doesn't bartend he waits tables. where are the managaers that should be making sure that drinks are served right? all in all it was terrible and i doubt i would go back

My wife and I wanted to treat her parents to a nice evening out for New Year's Eve last year. After looking at several other restaurants in the area (which also had wonderful selections) we decided on Circa 1922. Since it was a special occasion, their menu had a smaller amount of options and we we able to take a menu with us of the selections so we could decide from them before returning for New Year's Eve dinner. The atmosphere was nice and we had the chance to come early for drinks. It was crowded, but more so probably during to the holiday. We were seated upstairs next to a large mirror which made the brick walled room appear much larger. Our service was a pleasant and humorous fellow who joked with us, and we jokingly conversed back. The food was outstanding. Our dinner service was timely and unrushed which allowed for great time to talk and enjoy family. We've made it a point to try different locations each year, yet I find myself wanting to go back because of last year's experience. Highly recommended at any time throughout the year though.

We had a great meal on Saturday November 6, 2010. All the staff was very warm, and professional. Are waiter was one of the best waiters I have had served us in years (Bill). I would recommend asking for him.

Very disappointed with the menu on new years eve. Not only could I not order my steak how I wanted it I was stuck with the sides that came with it. And the price for the product was ridiculous. We had a younger person with us who only wanted a starter and they wouldn't let him. When we made our reservation it would have been nice to had been told they weren't operating on full menu and with NO options.

We were a table of 6 & the food & wine was excellent. The only issue was the waiter who took our order did not serve the food. The girl who served it didn't know where any of the plates went so she just yelled out the item & then we had to raise our hands. This happened with our salads & entree's. I expect more of a high class restaurant like Circa & they need to correct this service issue.

After living in WIlmington for 9 years and trying a majority of what this town has to offer, I feel compelled to give a strong endorsement to Circa. It's always a delicious meal, well-served and worth every penny. Embrace the tapas-style: take some friends and pass the plates. And definitely, definitely, save room for dessert. Thank you, Circa, for your prix-fixe menu... now that times are tight, it's nice to know that a million-dollar meal is only $20.

Since we don't live in Wilmington, we eat here as much as we can when traveling in the area. Comparable to a wonderful New York restaurant experience. Best restaurant in NC in our opinion. We have never been the least bit disappointed in anything at Circa 1922. Wait staff is knowledgeable and helpful with menu and wine suggestions.
