When I purchase food for my family, I expect the best. Sunday dinner is very important in our household,as I'm sure it is in many, if not all households. To pay 60+ dollars for food that is worth 20 is a slap in my face! For example, Firebirds has a special, THREE RACKS of ribs, a FAMILY sized salad, drinks and huge baked potatoes for 49.99! Had my son not wanted " soul food" I would have never visited this place. We waited too long for this garbage. The fish was not flavorful, the greens tasted like unseasoned canned food, when I see white meat chicken, I would expect a breast and wing attached...NOT a cheap non seasoned chicken breast that was the size of a chicken strip! The drinks tastes funny like an unclean container or one that was washed with greasy food containers and not rinsed well. Instead of lemonade, I got thick yellow drink mix. The cornbread was hard,cold and gritty. The oxtails were all but bone. My son refered to the meal as "snack". The majority was inedible. The cake...well, I wouldn't feed it to a dog. Majority of the meal was thrown away. I felt ROBBED! I contemplated writing this because the owner was so sweet however, as far as food service this establishment could afford to close its doors for a while, find good QUALITY cooks that take pride in what they prepare for customers no matter the time of day. Preseason food the day before. Open one day. Serve one meal, one meat, two sides. One quality, tasteful dessert. Peach cobbler should not be the consistency of pudding! It may be wise to hire an elder known for cake and dessert baking. This was BEYOND disappointing and down right GROSS! PLEASE, treat all customers as though they were family. If not, take the "soul" out and just call it simple. There are individuals on FACEBOOK that prepare meals several days a week out of their homes for far less (costs) than this with quality, well seasoned food! Do better!
