Not at all a good experience while on vacation and traveling to Sturbridge (which we visit every summer). We’d been to Teddy G’s once in the past with family and wanted to spend the evening with our adult children, having a couple drinks. We were seated and asked what we wanted to drink. The four of us ordered water, and an alcoholic beverage. The waitress asked for id and had a blunt affect. She looked several times at our son & his girlfriend. Her reply was, “Six days apart huh?”. We all confirmed and waited for 5-10 minutes. Along came the manager who asked if we were “the ones with the Kansas id’s.” We acknowledged and he asked if he could take them because he was going to have them verified with a black light & a verification book in the back. He also looked at us, and asked if we were their parents and “co-signed” on their legitimacy of age. I explained that we were his parent (she his gf of 4 years) and that I had him when I was young (18). At this point we still had not even gotten water or any other type of service.
He came back later and explained that he didn’t have the equipment to verify the id’s and was choosing not to serve us. I asked if there was anything more we could do beyond providing valid id’s as we would do so and would ultimately like to stay. He apologized and said the owner wasn’t there & nothing more anyone could do. We left very confused and partially frustrated. I called the restaurant back nearly an hour later and asked to speak with the manager again. He was willing to listen as I explained that we had done everything correctly and as frustrating as it all was, it was disappointing that we couldn’t even get water, an order put in, etc with all the time that was spent consumed. Making it really feel like we were completely refused any form of service. I went on to further explain that we would very much like to not leave with a bad taste in our mouth since we own a cabin in the area and travel every summer to the location. The manager indicated that he would relay a message to the owner and that maybe they could get equipment available the next day & we could try it again. It’s now been 3 days since and we’ve never received any contact. Sad & ultimately not at all an ideal experience
