Well, after reading the one review which was a very good review and reading an article on The Great Birmingham Hot Dog Tour I was all set for our 2-hour ride to an old fashioned Drug Store Soda Fountain experience with some great homemade food. Much to my disappointment (as well as my wife), this was not as advertised. The folks there were very nice and hospitable but the food was not that fresh, hamburgers are obviously frozen patties, the hot dog was mediocre at best, chili may have been homemade but was not suited for a hot dog. The owners idea apparently is to TRY to give you that old fashioned feel but I believe it falls short of that. I've been to some real "old fashioned" soda fountains, which this s NOT! In my opinion the old fashioned feel is overshadowed by the over priced children's wear and other items on the floor though they do have a few jars of candy to give that look, but doesn't quite make it. By the way 1 hamburger with a small bag of chips and drink, 1 hot dog with a small bag of chips and drink was a total of nine dollars and change.

I absolutely LOVE this place! If you *ever get the chance to stop by, you definitely should! I had their mixed plate which comes with your choice of any 2 or 3 of their 4 salads with lettuce, tomato {my goodness their tomatoes are wonderful!!}, pickles, and crackers. It was AWESOME. I also had some of their bacon pimento mac and cheese (which, in my opinion, was awesome. And yes it has real bacon in it!) and wasn't disappointed with my drink, a Lemon-Lime Freeze, either. For dessert, I splurged and order their Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae and might I say it was fabulous! If the warm brownie, REAL (yes, real. NOT soft serve!) ice cream, and gooey hot fudge didn't win me over, the whipped cream, cherry, and adorable glass sundae bowl it was served in did. I will most definitely be visiting again and hope to try something else on their wonderful menu!
P.S. For everything I ate, I spent less than $20. Talk about happy tummy, happy wallet. :)

Still love this place. Old time soda fountain and great chicken salad sandwiches. I also hear the pimento sandwich is good. Or if you are a school kid a grilled cheese and a limeade or a lemon lime freeze. really is a great place. just miss the old owners it will be awhile before i can say 5 star. but its coming!

This place is AMAZING!!! I love going there. If you go, try their chicken salad and a limeade. While your at it, order a milkshake, because they serve killer ice cream. AND they are pretty cheap. They have a full service old tyme soda fountain (one of the very few exhisting), a complete phamacy, a gift department, and a western union. The owners are Daniel and Lisa Champion. If you are EVER in Alexander City, go to this place! I swear you will not regret it.
