10/16/2024 - Cate R.
Stopped by the Iron Skillet for a quick lunch during our road trip. The atmosphere is nothing fancy, with worn tables that have a unique color from the skillet metal. The Southwest buttermilk chicken sandwich was surprisingly tasty, especially paired with the crispy tots and side salad. Despite not being a huge fan of the place, I was pleasantly surprised by the Steak Rice Bowl - the sweet and zingy flavor was delicious. Service was excellent, and the servers were friendly and accommodating.

Terrible - The Worst Country Fried Steak EVER! ...the menu still shows their normal REAL country fried steak... you know steak is beaten into submission so it is tender, dredged in flour, egg-wash, and then dredged again in seasoned flour deep-fried nice and crispy then covered in sausage gravy... BUT tonight, my favorite dinner for my birthday was a 1/4 inch flat hockey puck with not even a memory of a seasoned flour coating, a washed-out white gravy (no sausage flavor much less meat!) ... very disappointing! Not what I have been eating there for the last 10 years, not as advertised and pictured on the menu... and not acceptable for human (especially birthday dinner) consumption... just saying!
