The BV Bar and Grill was positively horrible tonight! When we have eaten there in the past, the food was delicious and the service was acceptable. We went back for the Prime Rib special again tonight because we were so impressed previously. We ordered 1 medium rare, 1 medium, and 1 medium well. (The fourth meal was country fried chicken-which was very good.) The medium rare came out completely rare. There was a tiny sear on the very outside with a completely red middle and cool center. It was also somehow disgustingly slimy. The medium and the medium well were both cooked so long they were completely dry and actually crumbled. They were all nearly impossible to chew and completely bland and flavorless. Even the mashed potatoes we had previously raved about lacked even a hint of salt or flavor tonight. After just a couple bites, we spoke to the manager and explained the issues. His attitude was quite condescending from the beginning. He informed us that this was “their version of medium rare” but he would be happy to get it more done if we liked. He said they are almost out of prime rib (an hour after they began serving it with a nearly empty dining room) but that he would replace the other two with something else. Before we could make any kind of reply, he left. The waitress then came back with three menus and gave to us. Then she took the two fully cooked prime rib and asked if we wanted a box for the rare one. I said no, we don't want that one either. It's inedible. She said they would not be doing anything with that one because there was nothing wrong with it. I told her never-mind then. We will not be ordering new meals for anyone. Please bring the check for the chicken and the rare meal. Some time later, she came back with the check (still nearly $50 with all but one belly still empty) She did not come back for our card, so we took it to the front to pay. The manager was there and I told him that we were extremely disappointed and that it was delicious last time, but they really messed it up this time and it was ridiculous that I was paying this much for just one person to eat. He did finally at this point say he was sorry for the mix up. I pointed out that it was not a mix up. It was a mistake on their part that he was refusing to correct. He told us to quit making a big scene and that we could call his manager. We were not making a big scene. Voices were never raised. Other diners were probably not even aware of the issue until we got up to leave without eating. We will definitely take him up on his offer to go above him though. I understand 100% that mistakes happen and I am generally willing to give second chances. However, it is not a wise business choice to refuse to admit to or to fully correct your mistakes. We will not be back.
