I’ve been in the service industry for 10 years (both serving and management) and the management here clearly sucks. The servers are friendly, but poorly trained. The food is awful. There clearly is no communication between the kitchen and servers for 86 items. I came here for dinner, the food was terrible. We then came back for breakfast because it was free (we stayed at the Holiday Inn next door).
I ordered a Turkey club for dinner. The kitchen didn’t inform the server that the club would have no Mayo because they were out, so I was served a club with no Mayo and had to dip it in ranch. I requested Mayo and the server had to go back to the kitchen and ask why there wasn’t any Mayo. The reason- they were out. My salad was terrible. The tomatoes had clearly been sitting out the entire day and were not freshly cut, my lettuce was also shredded lettuce that had been wilted. My husband’s fries and burger had NO seasoning. We should’ve gone to McDonalds for a better meal. The server provided good service, but god- the food was terrible.
The next morning we came for breakfast and the server we had was okay. The only things she could’ve done different is offered us refills and gave us utensils before the meal was delivered. She also didn’t introduce herself. These are all training issues. Additionally, she had to check to see if they had honey (another miscommunication between servers and the kitchen with 86 items). The food, again, was terrible. The eggs I ordered had a shell in them and the hash browns were very overdone. The pancakes were also dry.
It is clear to me that management needs to do a better job training servers and kitchen staff. There is no reason that the servers should be uninformed about what items the restaurant has 86. I was disappointed in the entire experience. I hope the next Perkins we go to is better and this isn’t a chain issue or regional management issue. This restaurant has a ton of potential, but needs better management ASAP.
