I've been a Willy's Mexicana Grill customer since they opened. Love the burritos and several other entrees on the menu. We are loyal customers and dine there regularly.
On Friday my husband decided to try Howlin' Willy's Chicken in Piedmont Park. We ordered the Tenders Box as a take-out order. Big mistake. Food was horrible. If I had inspected the food before we left the restaurant, I would have demanded a refund and walked out.
The Tenders Box is billed as being a family meal with three large sides, 8 tenders with a choice of no heat or three levels of spice heat on the tenders.
What we got was 8 Tenders that were spiced, the "large" sides were in 5 Oz containers that were about 3/4 full (1/2 c. Serving divided by 2 is 1/4 c. Or less, which hardly a large side).
The tenders were obviously not drained before they were packed, so the grease was about 1" deep in the plastic entree box by the time we got home. Pretty disgusting. I'm not exaggerating!
The Mac and Cheese billed as "creamy" was a dry brick concoction that was inedible and also swimming in a yellow puddle that I guess was butter.
I don't know if this is a training issue or perhaps the "good cook" was off for the night, but this meal missed the mark so badly that I will never go back.
To be fair, the slaw and baked beans sides were fine. Just wish the Serving size had been "large," as advertized on the menu, since that's all we got that was worth eating.
