The comment regards to the roaches at this restaurant was made by someone work at red lobster on Washington road.
Miyako's restaurant has the most clean bathroom on Washington road. The key to a clear and better restaurant in Augusta area is always check the bathroom before you place your order at a restaurant.....that will really tell what's in the kitchen ...I was once a customer at miyako eating at the hibachi when a southern church lady accused the server that there is a chewing gum in her food funny enough her own grand daughter tell on her, " mamma I saw you put your gum in your plate". Goose bump I couldn't barely saying anything but swallowing my own giggle. I offer the grandma to pay for her food however it get worst cuz she start flapping her mouth around,...anyhow enough said... Rule of dum for all customers when on Washington road for dinning check their restroom before order...

I am writing because I think patrons of a local business should be aware of the attitudes the owner and employees have toward a customer having an issue while visiting their establishment. A group of coworkers and myself went to lunch this afternoon at Miyako's Sushi Bar located on Washington Rd. in Augusta, GA. While we were eating, my coworker asked for a refill on his glass of water. The waitress refills the water, but in the process a ROACH comes from the pitcher and into his glass. He signals to have the waitress come take his glass and replace it with a new one. When it came time to get checks, I asked to speak with a manager and one was never sent to our table. I went into the lobby to request to speak with a manager and was told that there was no manager on duty and that he would be in at 5 pm. So i explain to the woman at the front desk that i need to speak to someone regarding the issue and she does not let me get 2 words out of my mouth. I finally get to explain to her that there was a roach in his water and that he should not be charged for his visit today. Without apologizing for the incident and offering to do anything to compensate him for his troubles, the lady that i was speaking with which turned out to be the owner of the establishment along with the waitress proceeds to tell us that since the roach was not in his food, he would still be responsible for taking care of his bill. After persistent refusal to pay for the visit the waitress decides to pay for his bill because she stated she didn't want to argue with customers today. Having a roach in a pitcher is very unsanitary. Like, i explained to the owner and the waitress, regardless if the roach was in his glass or in his food, a roach should not be anywhere in the restaurant let alone in the serving dishes. I will be reporting this business to the BBB, EPA, FDA and the Richmond County Health Department. If the owner isn't the least bit remorseful by a customer having a roach in his water or losing business, then they should not be open. It really makes you wonder about any other sanitary issues they may facing.
