My cousin's husband surprised her with a birthday celebration last night at this establishment. The party consisted of 33 guests that arrived at 6 pm. By 6:15 orders for everyone’s selected meals were being taken. Unfortunately at 8:15 half of the guests were still waiting for their food. It took an hour to get drinks from the bar. There were no crabmeat dishes from the menu available. I won’t be going back. I will say the band was really good.

We try to support black owned businesses but this is supposed to be a two way street. If you wonder why black people are critical to our own kind please continue reading. For starters we arrived at 7:30pm and left at 9:24pm and never ate our entree. We ended up boxing it and going home underwhelmed, disappointed and frustrated. My wife took me here for my birthday. My wife told me that DJ Porkchop was the dj for that night. We walked in noticed there were several parties going on. DJ Porkchop was playing his music and people were dancing. So far so good. We sit at a pedestal table and waited for our waiter. Our waiters name was Patti. She told us that they were out of crab meat and salmon, Cream of Crab soup, Crab dip etc. However she said they only had crab meat for the Seafood Penne. She said that they could substitute shrimp in the cream of crab soup. We told her we "didn't" want the soup. Instead we wanted the Parmesan Wings and a Caesar Salad for the appetizer. We noticed that she didn't write anything down. I hate when waiters do that. I'm not impressed by your memory. I am impressed if you write my order down and get it right. Of course Patti screwed our order up. They brought out a Caesar Salad and Cream of Shrimp soup instead of the Parmesan wings. We asked for water from 3 separate people and had to eat our salad with no water. We tried not to let this hiccup ruin our evening and tried to stay positive. We observed our waiter Patti dancing with customers of another birthday party group. She did this several times. We once observed her sitting down with the group laughing and having a ball as if she wasn't on the clock. We shook our heads and said this was ghetto. Again, we tried to stay positive and make the best of the situation. NCAA Basketball was on tv and we were watching the Michigan game which was exciting. It went into double overtime. This kind of distracted us from the unprofessionalism displayed by our waitress Patti. by now it is after 9pm and we still haven't had our main course. Patti finally came to us and asked if we were good. My wife said could she bring the check and bag everything. My wife also said we never got our main course. Patti then had a confused look on her face and quickly walked to the kitchen. She then came out and pretty much blamed the kitchen for the delay. This was not the kitchens fault. The waiter is supposed to pay attention to each table and ensure that food and drinks are coming out in a timely manner. Patti was more focused on dancing and partying instead of her job. Patti is not getting paid to dance and party. Patti is being paid to service all tables. If Patti was focused she would've stayed on top of the kitchen to ensure the food was served on time. Our bill came up to $142.48. My wife gave her $150. I told her not reward Patti for poor service. My wife still let her keep the change. To make matters worse, the penne noodles were overcooked and it was meal was bland. Also, It wasn't just Patti acting unprofessional dancing and not being attentive to all customers. There were at least 3 other staff members dancing as well. They even tried to get the owner to dance with them. What's worse is the owner didn't correct their behavior. She encouraged it by laughing and smiling with them. If Grind and Wine don't get their act together this business will fail. WE WANT TO SUPPORT BLACK OWNED BUSINESS BUT YOU ALSO HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS. DO BETTER!! BE BETTER!! (Mrs. Owner, Waiters, Chefs, Bartenders, Hostesses).

I have been to Grind and Wine several times in the past month and found the service to be very attentive. I have enjoyed Karaoke and the entertainment on Saturdays. In attention, the menu offers a variety of wonderful meals, especially the Jambalaya. My plan is to make this my "go to place"!
