Love the chicken shwarma wrap and the grape leaves. The Middle Eastern dinner plates are also good, if slightly overpriced. Pizza is a little better than average- but what I like best about this place is Charlie and his brother, both of who are personable. The business is an integral part of the neighborhood. I see a couple of earlier posters have had a bad experience here, but I think those are the exception. I am sure I have been to Charlie's around 100 times over the last three years.

The only reason I eat here, the ONLY reason is because its just a few doors down. The guys are not friendly, and the food is pretty bad. Subs are ok but I think they buy frozen pizza dough. It's pretty gnarly, not in a good way. If you're looking for something to fill your stomach go for it, if you're looking to enjoy your food, pass.

this place is pretty terrible. i am half middle-eastern and i'vetried most of their middle eastern cuisine. you can tell they don't really know what they're doing. i went in once during the day and the guy w/ the bug eyes and big head was on the phone w/ what seemed to be his girlfriend or boyfriend for 10 minutes before he even acknowledged me. they were out of grapeleaves and kafta, so i went w/ the beef shawarma. bad choice. i've never eaten cardboard, but i can only imagine how similar it tastes.
since i'm middle eastern, i gave them a second chance. bad idea. i decided to try it at night. the other guy working wasn't on the phone for 10 minutes, but just decided to ignore me all-together. gotta love that lebanese charm. this time, they did have kafta and grape leaves, which ended up in my toilet in liquid form 15 minutes later.

The food is great! Best cheeseburgers around!!! They also have great baklava and spicy fries. The guys behind the counter always are friendly and love to chat while they make your food. Atmosphere is your average sub shop, but the tasty food makes it absolutely worth coming back!

Disgusting food and horrible service for a decent price. Let's leave the Middle Eastern food to real Middle Easterners, not Italian gangster wannabes from Boston. Took me 2 hours to receive a large cheese pizza on a Tuesday night. It was like waiting in line at Six Flags for the Superman ride. Then when you finally make it to the front of the line, they punch you in the face and tell you the park is closed. Charlie's Pizza and Cafe in Allston is no place for the sober woman to eat.

My roommates and I order from here quite frequently. Every time I go into this place, the men behind the counter ignore me until my male roommate places an order and calls them over to take my order. The food is decent, just your typical sub shop.
