Back in the early '90s, I was a fixture at this bar when Gary was behind the counter, and let me tell you, hydration was key on those cash-strapped nights. I'd sneak off to the bathroom with an empty long neck, wash it out, and fill it with NYC tap water while everyone else around me succumbed to the drinks' effects. Fast forward to now, and this cash-only haven still has that magical mix of friendly locals, strong drinks, and a jukebox, making it a perfect retreat from the pretentious vibe of the city.
