Although, on occassion, I haven't gotten exactly what I wanted, and the salad bar doesn't have the veggies I prefer, this is BY FAR the best place in the area for the price. For those who complain about eating food that is NASTY anyway, I don't want to hear it. Charlene complained about no spices and seasoning: good! When I order something I want to taste the food, not some NASTY garlic or onion salt and/or powder. Alex Blows sounds like the kind of guy who would buy a nasty refrigerated sandwich from a gas station. With all the national chains around, with the food saturated with MSG, Alex's is an "oasis." Nothing is perfect but Alex's is the best place around for the price.

Soup Company? Please, this place is an absolute insult to culinary arts. The most basic of cooking and flavor seems to be ignored. I had a veggie sandwich and some sort of water flavored soup. The entire meal was disgusting. I drive by this place everyday, and will continue to drive by as opposed to stopping. Do yourself a favor, go to the gas station and buy a Uncle Ben's sub and a Moxie, it's better value and will taste better.

This place has some of the best quality food around for a good price. It is not a very fancy restaurant but it is friendly and clearly a good home cooked meal. I tend to go there for dinner and they have excellent specials and even better variety. I definitely recommend this place for others.

The first thing you notice when you Walt in is the rather funky odor, like the hallway in a senior center. The place is old, and it shows. Dingy, with dingy lighting. I had the Pumpkin and Maple soup - it was terrible! No flavor other than maple, watery, flavorless, no spices or seasonings. I ate a couple of spoonsful and pushed it away - nasty stuff. I also had a chicken salad sandwich, it also had no seasonings or spices, you wouldn't know it was chicken, and it was served on yesterday's bread. My husband had the veggie wrap, and all of the juices and dressing flowed out the bottom and all over the plate. No one cared that our food was poor, and I still had to pay for the insipid soup! Won't be going back.

Great food, good portions, personable staff, including a visit by the chef Alex!

Our first time and will never return. I ordered the chicken strips; the chicken was so beaten down and paper thin all you could taste was the oil it was cooked in, no chicken flavor at all. I couldn't eat even one. My husband ordered an open face sandwich with sausage and ham. It turned out to be kielbasa with a paper thin piece of ham. The server didn't replace our drinks or return at all. The end result if I wanted Dennys I would have gone there.

They added a 20% gratuity to our bill when paying with a debit card after we had left 15% in cash on the table. The total of the bill was the total I wrote on the credit slip that I signed. Didn't find out about until I checked the bank balance online. Also, after looking at the bill a bit closer, discovered they had padded it with things we didn't order.

The place seems to be hanging on by a thread as it is with inconsistent, strange hours of business. The last thing they should be doing is ripping folks off. Especially the locals.

My wife and I eat here at least once a month. We usually order the hamburgers or the fish and chips (always ask if it is fries or potato chips, some order it is potato chips). The pumpkin bisque soup is delicious. The Sunday brunch is delicious! Waitstaff is always friendly.

This restaurant has been the source of a log of frustration for me over the past couple years. It seems they are hardly ever open. Today, on the way home from the doctor's office I stopped in to buy some soup to help me feel better; it was 10:30... although they were open, they do not sell soup until 11:00. so I left... I asked my boyfriend to stop by after work and get some for dinner, and at 6:00 in the evening on a rainy, cold, Wednesday night during peak foliage season the restaurant is closed.. why? who knows? the sign says they are open until 8... very disappointing level of reliability.

I ordered a warm veggie sand, which came out with ONLY raw veggies and a bit of cheese. it was gross! I told the server it was bad and she took the plate away. When I went to pay, I asked if the sandwich woul be taken off. They told me that it was their policy that they couldn't do that, an I had to pay! She was also very belittling. I have worked in the restaurant bus for 7 years! I was ripped off by this resaurant and will never returned, and will make sure a lot more people don't go there at all.

The food was great. They give you so much for breakfast! Service was excellent. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. I am going back next time I am in Vermont!

My waitress was Mallory and she was extremely unprofessional. She had some chip on her shoulder and was very short with my group of four. I would not return!

The waitress was rude and had an attitude. She wasn't friendly at all. I would not return! The food was average but over priced for what you got. There were two waitresses sitting at the counter eating. That looks real good for business!
